Well the sound quality on the ONA Live 3 CD Set is great, but there are also soundboard releases, and some outstanding past shows as well. so i think to most collectors it's fun 2 have but it is only a small sample of Prince's live shows from 2002. The releases containing live shows from past years will continue 2 be great collectors items and a valuable archive of Prince's past Live history, audience recording or soundboard, both will continue to be equally interesting.

Strange Relationship from the ONA EP is amazing! But Xenophobia seems a bit flat after my first listen... compared to the audience recording from Chicago. Hmm... I'm sure it'll grow on me as just one more great version of the song. Wonder what the studio version sounds like...

The studio version of Xenophobia (to me) doesnt have the energy it does live.. it is more mellowish.. in fact the whole cd is kindof like that, but definantly jazzy..

Honestly, I'm sitting here listening to this live set right now and I own the best bootlegs from ever major Prince tour (over 70 sets in total) and at least at this very early stage of the listening/learning process this thing is in the same league with the legendary stuff ("Small Club", "Livesexy", "The Avenue", “Wonderboy”, etc.).
I didn't think so with the first listen, but the second and third listens have been killers. Now I'm trying to go to bed but I can't stop listening to this bitch. Disc 3 is just sick as hell. The playing on this disc is even tighter than the playing on "Small Club", and I'm not sure how that's even technically possible. Prince should grow old with his current band. Damn, color me wrong for thinking Prince would ruin this set with overdubs. This is as live and perfect a sound as you can possible produce given the current state of technology. "It would be ludicrous to think we are new to this -- we do this! It would be absurd to think we just doodling, this is what we do!" -- George Clinton on "We Do This" Brendan

Brendan, are you the same Brendan that was here before months and months ago?
Garfield? This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Garfield? Yep, same person. You've got a good memory. I remember you because you're one of the more intelligent and interesting posters here. This live box set has inspired me (much like "The Rainbow Children" did) to start posting again, though I've never stopped visiting. Glad to see you still here. Brendan

You can't compare them. Quality wise ONA will be the absolute best. ONA has overdubs and it's not taken from one show.

Of course I'll still play my boots. The only way Prince can top the titles you've mentioned is by releasing them officially.
