Officializing live bootleg albums If I do not go wrong, rumors have it that years ago (about 1990), many fans and people requested the 'Small Club' bootleg to be officialized, 'cuz of the superb quality of the recording but, above all, the greatness of the performance itself.
I think that lots of Prince's live recordings should have received a particular care. In the '90s, Pearl Jam did a great job by publishing several live official bootlegs from their current tour and it was a success. Even Ani Di Franco put out some live bootlegs in recent years. How about U, what are the live bootleg U would love to see officialized? I go for 'Small Club', 'Sexuality' (Controversy Tour show), the Syracuse Purple Rain Tour show and the homecoming concert from the 1999 Tour, featuring The Time and Vanity 6 (this show included an eerie and ever-mesmerizing version of How come U don't call me anymore and a wicked porno version of Dirty Mind, with memorable Vanity's moanings). I'd add also 'Happy birthday' (Cobo Hall, 7 June 1986), 'It's gonna be a beautiful night' (live in Scandinavia 1978) and 'Live in Tokyo' (Nude Tour 31 Aug. 1990). It just seems like they all cut lose musicaly.

One of the live performances that comes to mind for me is Houston Summit 83. I watched the Roadhouse Rehearsals last night and loved it, although that isn't an actual concert. I'll pick either one of those to start.

There are some rough messy aspects to Small Club...that performance of Housequake is not exactly the best in terms of backround vocals levels, the mix, etc
But that intro instrumental and DMSR are the best! My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Anyone know of any of these? I don't want to know where to get them,I just want to know if they are actual boots.
Small Club (Germany 1988) Lovesexy (Germany 1988) HEAD (France 1986) and if these are real, are they considered RARE. Again I am not asking where to get them, just if they are known of. Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. ~Berthold Auerbach

Well, the definition is 'official bootleg', but I'm not able to explain why an officialized bootleg is still called a bootleg, even if it is officialized Anybody?

Prince couldn't make Small Club official. He doesn't have the master tape. I'm sure he's got the Boot CD though, after folks sent him their boots during the "Ways Of The Pharaoh" email campaign. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yep, I got Small Club 88 and Lovesexy 88. Small Club 88 is the actual boot, but Lovesexy 88 was released in Europe I think. "A united state of mind will never be divided

palladium gigs both nights july 13th and july 14th 1994 man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
