I think you could say that this was Prince's biggest hit of the '90s, even though it never appeared on any chart. This was like a viral song, passed around from person to person (mostly guys, in my experience). I know a lot of people who never bought a Prince album who had this song, and even more people knew about it.

My fondest memory of this song happened a few years ago. I was in a bar talking up a girl and the conversation drifted to music. I couldn't talk about it without including our friend, but as soon as I did she started rambling in a drunken stupor about how much of a fag he was, hated his music, etc.

Not long after that P Control came on and she hit the dance floor with her friends screaming about how much she loved that song. I had no clue until then how much the song had made it into the mainstream.Those same types of people call him names but know all the words to Little Red Corvette or something.
