Considering how much he goes back to it live, Purple Rain would be the obvious choice for sure.
For reasons that would start an entirely different topic, maybe Emancipation as a personal guess.

![]() Probably not. ![]() ![]() But seriously, I think Prince's favorite album is one by either Stevie, Joni, JB, or Miles. ![]() ![]() "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Well, as of the 1985 Rolling Stone interview, Prince said the last album he enjoyed all the way through was Joni Mitchell's "Hissing Of Summer Lawns".
That is not quite a clear statement of "favorite" but it provides a clue. ![]()

I never realized, but are we talking about Prince's favorite Prince album or by another artist.
I don't think he could pick a favorite album by someone else. But something by Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis or Coltrane are definite possibilities.

Isn't he also very fond of Kate Bush's Hounds of Love?
I would also say some of Larry Graham's, Sly And The Family Stone, Led Zeppelin and Rufus.
