a TRUE prince fan would see all of these things straight away and understand the underlying message of Imago's thread. i agree. the thread title is hilarious, but the issues therein are deep. i often wonder about what goes through Prince's mind if he is really denying himself sex. On the one hand he is abstaining, on the other hand, he sings love songs and in these songs there are contradictions with his purported beliefs. even in one of the latest tracks he talks about getting physical. i don't think Prince has resolved his spiritual dilemna yet. does his denial of the self (sex) equate his perspective of closeness to "God", when more than 90% of his music approaches the female body and the act of making love as divine entities...it's hard to know if he's being serious with us, or himself. then again, there's Annastasia: "have you ever wanted ...(any) ... you'd take any one boy or girl?" Imago, your piece can be summarised as: before Prince believed consensual sex is in line with God’s plan for men and women. Sex was sort of a pathway to God. He expressed that belief with some crafty and cryptic lyrics and you love him for it. But using the same example as you did: gett off, which is the epothomy of all sexualised prince video's, what makes you think it's okay, let alone even possible to lead a life as prince is suggesting there. not even prince can. it's simply too many chicks in that video!!
