I was looking through Purple Rain Tour dates ot find if he did San Antoonio.
I found this site and it says it has tour videos.

I wanna know are these all the tour dates, is it official, why was he Nice France,a nd the 1983 First Avenue shows, are those the ones where the official recording of Purple Rain took place?

I don't think there are any official videos of the Purple Rain recording sessions, but the "Prince and the Revolution LIVE" VHS was a concert from the Purple Rain tour if I recall.

I don't think any of the recordings listed on that site are official releases.

Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

1. Full tour dates are available here:

http://www.housequake.com...did=104476

2. There are no official DVD releases of the Purple Rain tour

3. Prince was in France filming 'Under The Cherry Moon' in 1985. He shot a video for 'America' in Nice (Theatre de Verdure) in 1985 after which he performed a short set. If I recall correctly, 'America' was streamed on the official site several years back.

4. The August 1983 sound recordings from First Avenue were used as the basis of some of the material which was later released on the album, Purple Rain, and featured in the film.

The Purple Rain tour was originally planned as a world tour, hence the term "world tour" on some of the merchandise ( t-shirts and jackets ). However, Prince changed his mind and extended the American leg of the tour and never took that tour to Europe. He flew to Europe though and discussed some options in 1985 with someone from the German WDR channel, and after that they decided on broadcasting a live concert of the Purple Rain show from Syracuse/NY.
You can see some people waving "Hello Europe" signs during that show, and Prince shouts " Eric Leeds! Germany !" during Possessed, if I recall correctly.
It took me a while to figure out why he did that.
This broadcast was also released in VHS format ( see Mars 23 ´s post above) but never as a DVD. There are DVDs of that concert but they are bootlegs, just like the First Ave. show from Aug.1983.
The America videoclip is a part of the Theatre de Verdure show from 1985, as Langebleu said above. He was shooting UTCM in France back then, but he wasn´t touring Europe that year.

I don´t remember that anymore, it´s been some time. I also don´t have the article about it. Maybe you can find some info if you google "Rockpalast WDR Prince".

He said he was retiring from live performance "to look for the ladder" rolleyes
It was the reason he didn't play Live Aid and he gave them a video clip of 4 the Tears In Your Eyes instead.

Yes.

It simply has never been released officially on DVD, which was your original question.

around the world in a day was already set 2 go ..if u think about it, purple rain was 2 years worth of promoting and getting it all set, by the time the tour started in 84, most of those songs were already a year old and if u know prince, he gets bored quickly hence the scrapping of the tour in europe
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
