It seems so obvious these two songs go together now, like why hasn't anyone done this before? Maybe I missed it. Anyway, I wasn't thrilled at the idea of another cover, but this song has really grown on me. I like it. Dam that Prince!!! Done it again! lol How do they go together? I don't get it at all. There are a gazillion songs that you could transpose to the same key and have fit in there OK, but I don't really get why he choses this one--doesn't really add anything conceptually. Of course, how they go together is ultimately a question of individual perception/taste/feelings, etc. To each his/her own. In any event, sometimes these blendings of songs just happen. It's not that he was necessarily looking for combinations of songs and spent a week trying a gazillion combinations of songs. It could be that one song just popped in his head while playing/recording the other and BAM, he found something he liked. How do they go together? Well, they seem to flow together pretty well musically in terms of the Wild Thing part being just a little segue/bridge and then fluidly goes back to the main song, Crimson and Clover. Thematically, they are both love songs where the man is going nuts for a particular woman. Whether everyone actually likes the songs or not is another matter, but the subject matter of the two songs seem to go together easily, as does the music ... to me, anyway. lol [Edited 1/20/09 23:13pm]

I like it more than the original actually. I tried to like the original in the past but...meh...
And while you complaining..Prince already did a cover on the album previously and has domemany renditions of other Jimi songs live... Matter of fact all you do is complain, ho sit down Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

i like the cover. it's not the greatest but good.
i think a Jimi cover is kinda boring. Prince would just tart it up like he did Purple House.

Is it a coincidence that "Crimson And Clover" was the #1 single exactly 40 years ago?

This version of Crimson & Clover is the best I've ever heard. I LOVE the original, it is an amazing piece of music. I never like remakes better than the originals, but this time I did! First for everything! *************************************************
