I was just listening to this again a few minutes ago on the subway and it sounded so good as the train was going at full speed. I love Prince's version of this song. He made it his own song and it sounds so haunting and sexy all at once. Pure bliss in my ears.

I was holding back my comments cuz i'm on some kinda sticky here, but what I mean is with the mouth "pop" reference, its obviously a Jimi nod, and the guitar... Its not the Troggs, so you can kiss my ass when you say it wasn't.

Therefore, why doesn't Prince go after some larger scale work.... Red House..., or Gypsies "I don't Know, I don't know," you know? But yeah, its ok. sorta like a cool halftime show.

I agree. Prince masters this song (a favorite of mine) from a technical standpoint -- it's perfect to showcase his chops in, say, a live cover.
