If Purple Rain hadn't been called Purple Rain, what title would you have given this amazing album? Purple Rain was an excellent title. It's a metaphor of some kind and one kinda gets it but there's also the mystique. Given the songs and the themes, what title other than the one given would do the songs justice? | |

I think 'Erotic City' would have been a good album title. 'Purple Rain' was a better title but Erotic City fits with tthe whole soft-core porn fantasy world he'd created with songs like 'Darling Nikki' and 'The Beautiful Ones'. |

Probably Minneapolis or First Avenue, although he would have needed the songs, which wouldn't have been such a stretch since he was writing them almost at will at the time. cracknbush | |
