Interview With Prince...What Would U ask Him about his Music?

I still cannot fathom why that woman did not ask Prince about his music confuse lol
So many people complained about that...so what I want to know is...if u were the one interviewing Prince, what would YOU have asked him about his music...or anything else for that matter biggrin

y not distribute ur music through a website if u feel it's not conventional 2 profit through a major label?

will the majority of ur music in the vault ever get a proper release?

do u feel the marketing of music has changed since the advent of myspace, itunes and youtube? y r u not a part of this revolution?

when u compose ur art, what usually comes 1st the groove or the lyrics?

what possessed u 2 release planet earth? chair
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I'd ask Prince if He ever wrote a song on the piano, in the dark.

eek brilliant question...

hmmm
I've often thought about it, but its hard to find any specific to ask if I got the chance. Never mind that, but something specific enough that I'll remember to ask it while I'm all lol about actually being in the same room with him.

I'd ask one of the following questions:

1. What inspires your work?
2. With some of your songs being about really personal matters, why do you insist on sharing them with the world? [with the following follow-up questions]
a. Aside from money, why do you want people to hear your music?
b. What do you want them to take away with it?
3. What was your inspiration behind the song "Gold" [my personal favorite]?
4. Was any of your albums particularly harder to write than the others?

...I'll come back with more tease

See, this is the kind of conversation I'd like to have with Prince. Just talking to him about his music and how he comes up with these most amazing melodies and lyrics.
Such an opportunity would be THE ULTIMATE for me cloud9

I realize that poetry is only a layer of a song in comparison 2 the depth Prince has with music.

Rather than 2 ask Prince something about Music, and being a human instrument that feels that decending flow of energy into his being, and then expressing music so beautifully, I believe I would love 2 see this happen 2 him...being in the state of meditation and absorbing, study the gestation, and listen to the emotion that comes out with the new song.

That would be a very interesting pleasure. cool

There are several great questions posted here like what inspires his work and what about the unreleased music in the vault. I would also like to ask him:

How long does it take for you to compose a song? Does the song generally come to you quickly or is it more of a gradual process?

What are the things you like to do when you're not composing music, what kind of hobbies do you have?

Do you ever take extended breaks from composing music, like a week or a month, to focus on other things and revive your inspiration, or is music constantly there?

Is there a musical genre that you haven't tried yet, that you'd like to try?

My questions:

1) So tell me everything about "Sister" from Dirty Mind.

2) If you had to rewrite 'Bambi' now , given your current religious outlook, what would change?

3) Are you flattered MJ ripped you off with that silly ass Dirty Diana song or do you think there is only one Darlin Nikki and he should just shut the fuck up?

4) On the Songs "Come" and "One of Us" there's talking in the background. What are you saying?

5) Why did you release Graffiti Bridge as a compilation or true Sound Track, and not a series of albums like Purple Rain?

I'll have to jot some of those down typing giggle
I bolded my favorites.

Though for the majority of the time, I bet that music comes constantly lol I'm surprised he could handle it, but then again, this is Prince we're talking about wink music is his very being

I'd ask why is he so stubborn not to hire a top notch producer..

then after his ignorant response.. i'd ask

"so are you going to continue to make diarrhea in the form of music?"

then when answers, i'd take a dump on the floor and say.. look, there's your new album.

Dear God, I just got the the thought of Prince working with Timbaland or Danja in my head!!!

barf

If those are "top notch" producers, I'll take P on his worst day!!!

Plus I'm sure Prince can make better use of $500,000 than to give it to someone that'll just try to make him sound like he did 20 years ago!!!

again i ask y follow the stupid trends of other artists that hire the current "hot" producer only 4 that producer 2 produce the same tired ass songs and beats as they do 4 other "artists"? timberland beats sound all the same..jd sounds the same..teddy riley sounded the same after a while..

everyone is so hot 2 set prince up with a producer yet in still they know nothing about producing themselves. rolleyes and then they will b bitching that his music sounds like shit..

you're assuming. I never said Timbaland, nor would I like Prince to follow trends.. but he needs someone in the studio with him. It's obvious by the last 15 years of music. He needs someone that will go in and give suggestions and actually tell him when a song sounds like shit.

hell it don't even have to be a producer.. just someone in there to help him mold his sound.

Even Paul McCartney needs a good producer, that's why Chaos and Creation turned out to be some of his most impressive solo work. Nigel went in and told him when a change needed to happen, and he was open to the decision cause he wanted to make a great album..

Funny?? This is ridiculous. The absolute WORST thing Prince could do would be 2 let someone else "produce" his music. Please. Prince can outdo ANY "top-notch producer" out there, and just what is "top-notch" these days, anyway?

well maybe he should keep on the way he's going.. he sure in making some great music! lol

and by top notch, i don't mean "Timbaland" or some current producer who is making a fad out of music.. I mean a great producer, no'one who is gonna conform prince to the current scene... just help perfect his sound.
