Finally Copped For You & NPS

ok, as an "old head" i admit my Prince collection started with Prince. i'd contemplated copping For You for a minute now. saw it new for $8 and grabbed it and NPS (same price). For You was decent, but not the auspicious debut i'd thought. Soft and Wet was rightfully the only "hit" from the album. it DOES show some sonic sneak previews of where he'd go though. NPS on the other hand is a complete audio turd! And I'm a pretty staunch Prince apologist. Save for When You're In My Arms Again, The One, and Wasted Kisses, its unlistenably awful. its actually some decent song writing wasted with awful hooks and mediocre "funk jamming." Chaos and Disorder was a grower but i don't think NPS will be. its easily his worst effort ever IMHO.

NPS is credited to the NPG and not Prince or prince for a reason.

I love 4U on the other hand. If u listen 2 it more, u'll see what a great album it is. Also the songs. "Baby" could have been a huge hit, same for "My Love Is Forever". You have to remember, this is 1978 and the album has that soft-rock feel that was going on at the time as well as some funk.

NPS isn't funky, it just stinks. LOL. even if it wasn't credited to Prince or "symbol" his picture is on the front and they used HIM to market it. good point thought, but its not even a good album for NPG. i'd like to think they DO have an idea of what disjointed "jamming" sounds like versus something that's supposed to be an album.

I'm not crazy about either albums, though there are great tunes in the mix on both albums.

However, both albums are far better than this outfit: http://www.buzzfoto.com/w...son_03.jpg

Is it me, or does it look like he has had some botox? Especially around the eyes and forehead. Also, I see the weave tracks on the top of the head.

I wouldn't say "rocks". I sure wouldn't classify it as funky either. I do like Mad Sex, The One, Come On and Wasted Kisses. The rest could have been kept.
