Pluse $125 a ticket for the concert. Plus the obscene ammount of money on the celebration(I"m glad I didn't go) I feel really privleged. No, really I Do. I mean who wouldn't want to spend money on a club for exclusive music, and then get something anyone can buy at best buy for 40 dollars less? I will invest my money on Artists that actually interact with Fans and do cool things(Like the Roots and their 2 dollar Bill. You really think Prince would perform for 2 Dollars? That shows a love of music and fans.) In fact, I will not even get ANY music prince performs on. When Common's album comes out. *69 will be taken off my copy. I don't need to hear someone who doesn't give a shit about anything but himself, and makes decisions on ways to best rip people off. In Fact, I think we should all sue prince because he did not promise the deliverables he promised in the begining, and during the tour: Xenophobia, ONA, Madrid 2 Chicago, The Very best of  That is a breach of contract. I'm one of the few people here that has never been a member of NPGMC and thanks to boards like this one, I never will! Was Prince really suppose to release something titled "The Very best of OI-)> (I don't know how to do it, I'm such a novice!). That sounds interesting. I just wanted to say thanks for keeping people like me staying loyal to Prince when he releases stuff in stores, thus ignoring the club! | |

I don't have time to read all this shit but can someone PLEASE explain the whole "exclusive music" thing to me?? It's like people get upset when he makes the music available to the masses when that's exactly what he should be doing! 
How many times have you said to a friend, "you gotta hear this song!" Or, "you've never seen Prince live??!!  " Good NESS, it's not like WE have to "pay" for the box set like everyone else - it's already paid for along w/ "preferred seating", soundchecks, cheap/free aftershows, blah blah blickety blah.
If you're not happy w/ membership just don't rejoin - all the music's gonna be released anyway, wait & buy it retail. That's another thing membership pays for, having first crack @ the music. If it's not worth it to you, save your $100 & go walk your fucking dog or something. DAMN, how many "I'm upset!!" threads do we have to have on this?? The only REASONABLE gripe here - that Xenophobia (or something else new) wasn't the 4th cd of the set. "I spit on him"??? WTF??? Get a grip, people... I don't "hate" Prince, but I understand him:
He has always been an odd duck--let us never forget that--Prince has done things that could never be condoned or properly explained. Why then do we come back to him time and time again: The music. He does a unique thing with music that we enjoy and it makes our day, that is the long and short of it. Prince pisses us off but we except him, because we know what he is capable of. It is best to deal with Prince from afar--That way you do not get hurt. Enjoy the mans music, but do not make it an obsession (like me--haha.). The music is the afrodesiac: Everything else is just grist for the mill. I know the little fucker is greedy, but he is not nearly as greedy as others in the music bizz. I am not making excuses, but remember that the humanitarian, Paul McCartney charged upwards of 250 dollars! for his latest tour. And we all know at least that Prince can blow his Beatle ass off the stage. The real problem is promoters. They are good at convincing artists of big profits, just to line their own pockets. Because remember the utmost fact about Prince: He is eternally naive about buisiness matters. And let us be blunt: Concert tickets are not cheap--no ones ticket. I mean, sure, an anarchist band like Fugazi charges 7 dollars a gig and 10 bucks a cd, and make great money, but we all know Prince is far from a leftist radical. His Capitalistic bent really bothers me. He is tainted like many black artists--not saying only black artists suffer from this taint. this 'bling bling' society is rather scaley and has it's tenticles around everyone in the music bizz. And Prince being sheltered makes it worse. And we all know that Londell is Princes financial advisor. Prince also has this paranoid idea that he will go broke, so he does these weird buisiness fuck-ups. And the facts are pretty obvious, especially to Prince fans: Prince hasn't had a hit in years and the money to maintain Paisley Park and Princes extravagent lifestyle doesn't come cheap. Where else is he going to get the money? Of course, the fans could revolt, but that will never happen, so Prince is the actual victor. We buy the tickets and the cds then complain, but still keep buying the next P product that gets russled down the pike. We are to blame as much as anyone. And why in the hell didn't anyone complain about the prices at the soundchecks? See, being sheep has its bad side-effects. Amen. All you others say Hell Yea!!  | |
