What's so special about Kid Rock?
What's so unique about "A Summer Long"?
Noting is my opinion.

He became a so called "Country" guy when the Rap-rock craze died down a bit.
If you like Kid Rock then like Kid Rock.
There is no reason to compare Prince and Kid Rock.
They are in different places and status in their careers.

I heard Kid Rock blew John Travolta in the back of his jet.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

His "new music"? Sorry Prince didn't mash up two classic rock staples and make it his biggest hit!

Where am I, cause that don't make no sense!
I'm not bashing Kid Rock, but the new stuff is hardly showing maturity! If anything, it has been mostly downhill!

Everything is a matter of opinion, if you step outside of the Prince fam community you will see your opinion is in the minority.

Kid Rocks production and song writing has matured, by comparison Prince's has been childish and amateurish of late. Prince seems stuck, his music always feels a few years behind the times now. His new music is dated the moment it is released, subject matter and music that is only deep or interesting to a 13 year old.
There you have it; Prince had a stroke in 1987 and has reverted to perpetual 13yr old mode since.

-----
Are you on crack? Since when is mashing classic rock songs the sign of maturity or talent? Or singing fucking country tunes?

Perhaps you don't like P's music because you do not like RnB or Funk. So be it a lot of people seem to feel that RnB is immature. Sorry some of us like to groove and we do not listen to music with expectation that the solution to world peace will be found in the lyrics.

Anyhow your cetainly not going to find any depth listening to Kid Rock.

MRGee

Kid Rock puts on a GREAT show and has TONS of Fans. I've seen him 5x already and going to see him in February. I love his stage show and he's really cool onstage. He's a PRESENCE. His shows always sell out.

Maybe he is a good performer but this guy is stating that he has all this maturity in his music and I just don't see it. In addtion, he might be good but I doubt he is as good as P.

Anywhy we have seen people get on this board back in the late 90's and write P off and managed to come back.

Prince is 50 ffs. How mature do people want him to be?

Personally I preferred his material from his immature days.

And as for Kid Rock. I'm in Britain and my only encounter with the chap was that awful song during the summer. Blasphemous almost. But then it's not made for me, it's made for the teens.

At 38 years of age I tend to leave pop to the youngsters. So you won't be finding any Britney, Timerlake or Pussy Cat Dolls in my record collection.

However I would say that Take That have matured into quite a decent band. Okay they don't play but their song writing ability and harmony is world class at the moment.

But isn't there a huge difference between me at 17 and me at 37? Thankfully my tastes have evolved over the last twenty years. Unfortunately my spark for life has diminished somewhat and I now have regrets that can't be addressed.

I'm not that much of an old fart. More Frank from Shameless than Frank from Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em thankfully.
