This wouldn't be the first time we've heard that he made such statements. First with Wendy and Lisa in 86 (the "you're gonna go to hell" comment), then the conversation about W&L with Larry Graham, when Bobby Z said, "...I didn't care if I ever saw him again," and now this. But lemme "aks" you this: Did he significantly lose fans when he put out TRC, because of how the album views the place of women? Probably not. And that's just it right there. It wasn't directed at us gay DIRECTLY, it was general. It could have been applied to anything that straight people do too. Prince is not normally this direct with much of anything that's why I'm not taking this comment as the "gospel truth" that he really said this and I'm not trying to kiss his ass either. Before I get pounced upon, this is MY opinion on this matter. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

He is? Last I checked, most gay folks weren't checking for Prince. In fact, most of the gay people I know don't like Prince. Whenever I go to a gay bar, I NEVER hear Prince music in there. I'm sure he's respected by many gay people, at least before the New Yorker article, but he's never been a gay icon like Madonna, Cher or Barbara Streisand. I'm not a fan of "old Prince".
