What I am suggesting is that sometimes people say things to deliberately throw someone off I know I would It was just a thought...and just so u know I don't drink Oh...and I might also add that if Prince really did say that, and meant what he said...he needs a slap [Edited 11/22/08 15:46pm] PRINCE IS WATCHING U " When an Artist Creates, whatever they create belongs to society"

Since Prince has alot of gay following, this statement will definitely alienate gay groups.
But more importantly what's wrong with disagreing w/ gay marriage? Most people disagree with gay marriage because it's against their religious view or biological view. It has nothing to do w/ being biggots. It has to do with having common sense. I dont dislike gay people and support their individual rights. But marriage is between men and women. Liberals can never fully win over the public support in the end. They always resort to legal law suit to change. Just watch.

Of course now any attempt at having a conversation about this is now going to bring out the Jesus zombies. This isn't a conversation about how YOU interpret the bible, or whether YOU will get into heaven, honey. Nor it is a forum to discus what biblical literalists think of homosexuals. The damage that christians have done to people and societies throughout history needs to be discussed more, if anything. The thing about Prince's refutation of the New Yorker article is that he didn't refute anything specifically. Infact, he did not even make a statement himself! He merely got one of his people to make a statement that he was misquoted and that they were upset about it. There was no attempt to say specifically that he didn't make that anti-gay statement. I was pretty sore over the anti-semitism and religious based sexism (Man under god, women and dogs under man) in the Rainbow Children. I was sore reading what went down with the Revolution reunion regarding Wendy and Lisa when he told them they'd have to renounce their homosexuality in a press statement...I've been dissapointed by alot of Prince's high horse narcisstic morality. His new-found celibacy is laughable. If he was a man in his mid 20s he sure as fuck wouldn't be lauding celibacy as the way to god. And when he was in his 20s he didn't. I think he's a raging hypocrite. I'm from MPLS. In the late 70s Prince went to gay bars, had at least one boyfriend that I have heard of, and everyone thought he was gay. I've been a Prince fan since I was 11 years old. Has he lost me? Sort of. I mean his music is tame now, and his religious and hyperdrive nuevo riche thing makes HIM more and more difficult to enjoy. He's losing me in stages. Indeed, if it wasn't for bitorrent and Direct client and the fact that I finally found the stash of golden era Revolution bootlegs, I would have lost interest long ago, I think. The deeper he gets into his conservative christian bullshit, the more I feel like we've lost Prince. It's tragic. It feels really sad.

Liberals can never fully win over the public support in the end. They always resort to legal law suit to change. Just watch. What's wrong with it? It's discriminatory! It makes a separate class for gay people! I have gay foster parents and they are the foundation of my life. I bounced around in foster care for 9 years before they took me in. They have been married for 20 years, and the work they have done has all been about justice and service. How dare ANYONE suggest that my foster parents have to live by an entirely separate set of laws! My foster parents are not second class citizens! We Americans live under secular government that protects all classes of people, including those with varying religious views. You are free to have whatever fucking religion you want, but you are not free to force your religious views onto the state. And damn right we are taking Prop 8 to court! And we are going to WIN, motherfucker! Because the constitution exists to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority! EQUAL TREATMENT UNDER THE LAW is justice! If you, as a christian, can't hang with that I suggest you open your fucking bible and read the words of Jesus Christ: Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Matthew 22:21 Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's.

Well, my bias against Christians comes from having been a Christian. If I had my way, I'd throw the Christians in the fucking ovens. They can take their hypocrisy and child molestation and fucking burn in hell for all I care. But here's the difference. I have never worked politically against christians or tried to pass or bring a ballot initiative against them. I am perfectly happy to stay out of their lives if they stay out of mine. It doesn't seem like they are willing grant me and my family and my friends the same respect.

Everyone is a sinner and even when u come to the realization that u are a sinner, you will still keep sinning because we are human. You can follow every law and scripture to the T, you can have the entire bible memorized verse for verse, do all these wonderful "good deeds" for people, pray, fast, and even look holy, and that doesn't mean you are going to get into God's kingdom. God looks at your heart and what comes out of your mouth. You will be judged by what comes out of your mouth, because what comes from a man's mouth overflows from his heart. The question is, is the Word of God written on your heart? Do you truely know the Almighty and not just words on a page? All I'm saying is God has given us laws in the bible to follow but if they are not written on your heart it doesn't mean anything, its just religion. well, i dont think this one thing, nobody really cares what Prince thinks anyway, its a lot of things, his new music stinks, changing the lyrics to his good music, and he said he would stop performing the hits live (nobody believes this as this is the reason people come to his concerts)
His statement will not make him loose alot his fans, but he is working on it even as we speak.

Then some ppl will start talkin bout they're not a fan of Prince anymore, but they still love his music, even though they think he's a bigot while others counter by sayin he has a right cause it's freedom of speech bla bla bla etc etc etc... Since when in the fuck did marriage become such a "holy" thing as to be exclusive to heterosexuals?
It's a damn JOKE that hypocrites who marry and divorce like it's as easy as changing underwear are the ones trying to keep it a sacred institution! Crap about it being as so in the Bible? Come on people, wake up! The Bible says we should and shouldn't be doing a lot of things... including DIVORCE, Prince. What happened to separation of church and state? With a black heritage, you would think someone would be a little more hip on civil rights and the obvious omission of it for a group of people. Offended by what I say?
