The Grand Progression (gets no credit) This is a quiet underrated, beautiful song. Especially the chorus. Damn Prince, how do you do this? Its like the song says "shhh..quiet now..listen...". "Climb in my fur."

I must agree with you RDHULL. That song has no rushed sound about it. Rather, because it sounds like he truly meant what he was singing, it came across as a very deep song. I was pretty much in awe when I first heard this, which wasn't long ago. I am MrVictor....

this is one of my favorite unreleased tracks! I still don't understand why it didn't make the D&P tracklist. The quality on the version i have is not the greatest but just hearing it at all is beautiful!

I thought it was intended for Grafitti Bridge?(sp?). Either way Im kind of glad it was not released. A release would have ruined it somehow. . [This message was edited Fri Nov 22 13:34:17 PST 2002 by rdhull] "Climb in my fur."

Somehow (and we all know how P cannot leave a song alone), I feel an official release would have made it lose its soul. I am MrVictor....

This piece brings tears to the eye, it is beautiful, peaceful, magical "if I was a star you would be the night..." "Goodness will guide us when love is inside of us... The Force will be with you, always"

Yeah, for some odd reason, I like the poor sound quality on of this track as it appears on the Jewel Box bootleg. It has kind of a haunting eerie feel to it. Like ghost music.
I always enjoyed the song but I am glad he left it off Graffiti Bridge. I think the song should be released as part of a greater compilation of his rare and unreleased tracks.

One of my faves also. It's so calming, so ethereal. I love it. ***************************************************
Seems like the overly critical people are the sheep now days. It takes guts to admit that you like something. -Rdhull ...it ain't where ya from, it's where ya at... - Rakim

The Grand Progression
Can it be in this seemingly short space of time We've lived a year or 2 inside our minds? Now I want 2 whisper in your ear That U're OK If love were gold then I would be fixed 4 life If I was a star, then baby, U would be the night And I want 2 live my whole life through Inside of U CHORUS: Darling it seems I have found the grand progression Whenever I'm in your arms From July until June, every sun and every moon Melting inside of your charms If there really is a God up above 2 him I owe my life 4 U my love Now ... darling, if I died yesterday It's OK CHORUS {x2} Can it be in this seemingly short space of time We've lived a year or 2 inside our minds? Now I want 2 spend my whole life through Inside of U

Meant for 'Graffiti Bridge'. Recorded around late 'Lovesexy' period (end of '88 ).

I´ve said it B4 but this song would fit perfectly on the ONA piano album.
2 bad it wasn´t included... now it will gather dust in the vault...

I doubt that he would release a song nowadays that includes the line "if there really is a God above".

Very few people know that the first title of "The Grand Progression" was "The $59.99 Price Tag."
Prince 'nuff said. "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
RIAA 'nuff said. | |
