I've given a decent share of info..so can someone answer me this: do you think Prince will actualy print our names on this? I know Im being silly etc but shit--we havent been able to be silly with Prince music etc in ages! Do ya? Huh? It's different if the customer didn't know. It's not something you had to put up with, if you already know what's been going on. Therefore, said person deserves what they put up with. You can only be abused business-wise if you continue to patronize the business that has that reputation.

You know, when I joined for year one: I moaned about the concert footage provided. The only ones I downloaded were Letitgo and Live for Love. I wasn't thrilled about the Audio Shows because I thought the were going to be insane party (house, club, instrumental dance, techno, hard house) mixes of his and related artists work. I thought they would contain rare and exclusive fresh mixes of his work. Yet, I loved the studio quality of new material. (Or new to me because later I learned Supercute, High, and Underneath the cream had been released) I loved the videos - mainly because none of the so called video channels are playing him. (Unless its flipping Kiss or Something from the Purple Rain era)

Now, year two. Look, I don't klnow what to say that isn't critical. I order items from the website and it takes 8-12 weeks to receive it. I get a cd, that I listened to five times in hopes that I would find a song to fixate on. Or a particular stroke on the guitar.I mean, when I first listened to the Truth I hated it. Several rotations later, I think its one of his best albums. But ONA!!!??? It's the second cd I've removed from rotation. (Rave original was the first.)

Now, I've been thinking about year three. I don't know. Pre 9/11, 100.00 dollars was a joke. I had job security and my fiancee was thriving in his business. NOw the company work for is "laying-off" people left and right. My spouses business is dreadfully slow. And the funds set aside for the wedding is steadily dwindling.

I believe in Prince. I supporthis cause. But, he's not doing anything to keep me. I mean the man has stooped so low as to try insulting the American customs by comparing it to another country. I mean what's next. Is he going to start babbling anti American rhetoric? Is the web site going to become his soundboard for his own egotistical greed? Oops. It already is?

I don't know. I'm a fan of the music and it'd drive me crazy to miss something exclusive.

I'll decide what I'll do when he actually talks to the members and not at us.

i don't feel like i was ripped off or anything like that. I can't say that i have always been completely happy with the service either. Some people pay $50 a year just to have an American Express card because membership has it's privileges...well, with npgmc, in the big picture, membership has it's privileges.

I lost $50 on Crystal Ball. I ordered it, never got it, complained, was promised to get a it, didn't, was promised again to get it and a NPG shirt, didn't get it, complained again, promised the CD set and a copy of The War, didn't get it, and then went out and bought it in the stores 6 months after it was released. I promised the copy I was going to get to a friend, but he is still waiting for it because it NEVER CAME, and I NEVER GOT A REFUND. I toyed with the idea of sueing them for mail fraud but knowing Prince and how he loves to sue (but doesn't seem to win) I thought better of it.

Mostly, Prince has sucked when it comes to his retail practices.

Will I join? Nope. Will I recommend people to join? Right!

Tell you what, if you really want to do this next year, send someone else your $100 and tell them to give you the 4 CDs that he will release. You'll feel like you joined, and your friend will be $60 bucks richer for it.

Oh gee, I forgot about the Crystal Ball nightmare. I remember the reviews from the five people who had received theirs. Me, three months of it's coming inspired my Visa to put through a charge back because I, as well as several others i learned from the operater, had not received merchandise.

That experience, doubled with my most recent ordering nightmare. Did I tell you I ordered The War and they canceled it six weeks later?

I do think year 2 was a bit of a down year for the club.I think that year 3 will offer a combo of the 2 previous years.

Others have mentioned the CB debacle.I want to go on the record.

1. I recieved the Crystal Ball set with no problems & I was one of the first to order it.In my opinion his handling of this was horrible in regards to those who did have problems.

2. I have had no problems what so ever with orders to the npgmc.In fact I ordered the WAR casette and it arrived before the due date.

I have had plenty of problems with other e-mail & mail order companies.

At this point in time I will most likely NOT renew my membership next year. I have been a NPGMC member for 2 years and I have supported Prince and purchased EVERYTHING for 21 years. However, I feel that the club hasn't amounted to anything this year.

Thus far we received one 25 minutes cd as part of our 4 cds. It took forever for me to receive mine and some members still have NOT received theirs. This is VERY poor customer service. I purchased The Rainbow Children cd and this One Night Alone box set consists mostly of music from this cd performed live, along with some other songs I have heard numerous time in concert. So I am not really pleased if this 3cd set completes the contract. I was looking forward to NEW,unreleased music by Prince; even if one of the cds promised earlier in the year was a best of Prince. We have to wait until December or possibly January to receive this set; which I think is totally ridiculous since it will be released to retail VERY soon. I think the NPGMC members should have received this cd much earlier in the year before it goes to retail. Why join the club to receive it ONLY a short period of time before going to retail. What's the point.

I honestly don't think we received any perks except for one. The members were allowed to enter the soundchecks,which was very enjoyable. However, I don't think that is worth $100.

As for this year's Celebration being NPGMC members ONLY-that was NOT the case. I believe the NPGMC stated this early on in the year to sell the NPGMC membership. People that wanted to attend the Celebration HAD to purchase the membership. Then Prince decided to sell extra tickets and the soundstage had TOO many people. It was not comfortable at all. Was the air conditioning system on the way out or did it possibly break from all of the body heat from the HUGE crowd? Besides, the Celebration cost $250,plus the $100 membership to attend.

The club is just one way to make money for an entire year and provide the members with a tiny BONE until the year ends. Yes, Prince used our money to make this box set and get it out to us and to retail. At the end of the year he wants the members to be encouraged to join for year 3, so he releases the box set at the latest possible moment. He probably hopes that those members that have been complaining during the year will forget why and will kiss and make up and join year 3.

He promoted the retail section to be bursting with new items, and this is not the case.

The One Night Alone tour was fantastic with a nice price tage of $130 for one ticket. That is the most I have paid to attend one of 20 Prince concerts. Oh yes membership has its privleges---Pay MO MONEY for seats that HIS loyal fan base should have been able to purchase all along throught the years.

As I said I will most likely NOT renew my membership;however the year has NOT ended yet. I really do NOT think that we will receive more than this box set-but if we do I may renew for year three. I think the club members deserve more than just this box set.

I love Prince,but I don't like his current business practices. He is one of the most prolific musicians of all time,but he REALLY needs guidance in making this club a success for EVERYONE. Now some of you are already laughing at that statement but there are some simple things he could do to make the club much more enjoyable. I will only name one. Do NOT use Guage Marketing to ship out the club cds. It seems that they have a lot of trouble making a list and checking it twice. They should ask Santa for some help.

For the simple reason that this year's membership was only worth it for the concerts/after shows (if you had the chance to attend some). Since most probably he won't tour next year, there is no need to renew the membership. I'll buy the cds in a store and if one of them (like ONA this year) does not come out, then I'll download it on the web or find a friend who'll make a copy.


No angst, no frustration, just simple calculation.


I guess that when the NPGMC was launched, ALL OF US thought we would get lots of old unreleased material or at least downloadable concerts (at no cost for him and that would put an end to Sabotage records). In light of these natural expectations, we are ALL DISAPOINTED. Some of us have simply forgotten what they were expecting two years ago.

But it is really sad for Prince cuz the basic idea was great. I still can't understand why he does not want to spread free downloadable (full) concerts to NPGMC members...

I joined this year and i havent seen anything. He better send me something!

BUT I can't pay $100 to get a $60 CD for free... doesnt quite balance out.

Perhaps next year the membership price should be reduced if there isn't going to be a Tour??

I wouldnt mind paying $50 - just for the luxuries & benefits of getting music early and/or free !!
