We all like to discuss favorite albums and favorite songs.

Here's a challenge;
...what do YOU consider to be the weakest track on the Purple Rain album?

Honestly, it's such a good album for me that I'm hard-pressed to name one. But if I really, really had to, then I think that I'd pick; "Baby I'm A Star".



What say U?

Take Me With You. Apples I think has a hard time singing with Prince in this track.

The album has pop songs, rock songs, funk songs, whatever style WDC is, so if you dont like a particular style, thats the one youre not going to like.
I dig all styles of music,so i can dig all the songs on there.

I swear go God, there are moments in that song I actually picture a Christmas scene with bigass, Clydesdale horses galloping through the streets of Aspen, Colerado, carrying Dolly Parton dressed as Misses Clause for some tacky television Christmas special.

It would be real easy for me to just say that there are none since...THERE REALLY ARE NONE. But I'm just gonna take the high road and say that "Baby I'm a Star" would be the weakest. It's just a simple dance number about Prince's ego. And yet I still think it's a great tune and love it to death.

It's a pretty good song--I don't refute that. But Purple Rain is a nearly perfect album, so it's the weakest song in the bunch. It's funny cause critics normally poo poo on Computer Blue , but nobody mentioned that one. Personally, the weak tracks on Purple Rain or SOTT are stronger than most of hte tracks on some of his recent releases

I dunno, I think Baby I'm A Star could give Take Me With U a run for it's money in the cornball stakes.

At a live performance, which would you prefer to hear... or which would the 'masses' prefer to hear? Even though 'Take me with U' might be the 'weakest track' on the album, people go crazy when he plays this live, so the song itself is good, or at least it's a good pop, singalong, dancealong, feel good song. I can't imagine nearly so many people singing along to 'Baby I'm a Star' or even 'Computer Blue' in the same way, or it affecting them in the same way. It's the whole 'Take me with U scene' from PR that pops into people's minds I think when they hear this, and brings back lots of good memories so... just a shame about Apples voice, yes!

I certainly had enough of Take Me With U. It surely is an amazing and catchy song (although still the weakest on Purple Rain), but I just can't listen to it anymore when he plays it live. Sure I'd rather whatch a live performance of Take Me With U than nothing at all, but it's been done to death somehow.

I think Baby I'm A Star is the weakest track on Purple Rain.

Take Me With You is a classic pop song with a ridiculously memorable chorus.
