N.P.G. in the war

Has anyone heard of an album/cassette titled " The New Power Generation in The War" ? I've never heard of it and was curious if it was any good and what the tracks were called. I'm not sure if it is a boot or what.

it's a little "out there", but i like it...and i like that it's a little wacked out. if you like prince when he's being all ranty and mysterious, you'll get a kick out of it. the music's pretty good too.

Batter up, pitcher down
What your teachers say, it ain't down
Pledge allegiance 2 your flag
U tie me 2 a truck, 'n' then U drag
1 4 me, 2 4 U
U preach a lie, not a truth
U give me candy and keep the store
U gonna eat it in the war

U give me AIDS, your history
When it comes 2 mine, another name
Many die and this is true
Red, black, yellow, even Jew
Claimin' God was backin' U on a cross, what a fool
1 4 me, 2 4 U
U preach a lie, not the truth
U give me candy, U keep the store
Gonna eat it in the war
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I have the cassette. It's alright, but definitely one more for the collector purist. It's supposedly Prince laying on his back during the entire performance.

Originally was like 45? minute jam and edited down and much added to this song in the studio. Prince performed at Paisley. Was lying on the stage and reading the lyrics from a scrap book. The War was sent out to those after the Crystal Call fiasco with 1800 New Funk.

I remember P play in Atlantic City during the New Power Soul celebration tour, I believe it was the night after he played MSG? Lots of high rollers at that show, well anyways, he performed a techno song and talked about the War: "theres a war going on in here, theres a war going on in my mind" was repeated and spoken words about P, Larry G., and Chaka being 'free' etc. That was the same night he slipped on stage and messed up his ankle and had to cancel some shows.

i really love it, plus it turns up on ebay quite cheaply, quite often! or at least it does in the uk

i have a cassette player in the car, and it's been one of my regular driving tunes for sometime now!...i picked up the live in nyc tape in the last year too, that's worth getting too in my opinion

neither are all that commercial i guess, but they have a great vibe, and the sound is great, great musicianship too
