(in no particular order)
1. Do Me, Baby 2. I Would Die 4 U 3. Purple Rain 4. Pop Life 5. Sometimes It Snows In April 6. If I Was Your Girlfriend 7. Forever In My Life 8. I Hate U 9. P Control 10. I Love U In Me 11. Extra Lovable 12. I Can't Make U Love Me 13. Joint 2 Joint 14. 3121 15. Glam Slam 16. Love 17. Papa 18. Crystal Ball 19. Diamonds And Pearls 20. MantuaPharoah said: Alright... of course there are the classics like Let's Go Crazy, Adore, Kiss, How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, Doves, etc... but it's those unheralded songs that make you legendary to your hardcore followers.
Here's my top ten... not necessarily in order. 1. La la la, he he he Brilliant... and the story behind this song is even more BRILLANT. A challenge from Sheena Easton. Sweet! 2. God Created Woman Soulful. Pure art. A Picasso for the ears. 3. Girl I know some of you will object, but this is a fantabulous song. Hypnotizing. Lustful. Beautiful. 4. Gangster Glam I still rock to this when I'm in that mood. I don't need to be down with 50 cent and Jay Z or NWA... this is all I need to feel Gangsta! LOL 5. I Love U in Me No comment. Makes my list because of how taboo the song is/was. Simple. Sinful. Probably written in minutes. A hardcore fan classic! 6. Love 2 the 9's Amazing! "Could you stay awake for 14 hours listening to the grass grow, I ask thee?" The man is BRILLIANT! This song... it's entire composition... is EXTREMELY under-rated. 7. Come Back This song is on the Truth CD. Beautiful piece. Everytime I hear it, I think of my special ex'es that I've lost. Precious song... arguably his most precious. 8. The Screams of Passion Had Prince composed this song, and instead of Around the World in a Day, made a Purple Rain II type of CD, he'd have been more of a legend than he already is. Giving away this song is perhaps his biggest mistake, and not using to keep himself on the top of the charts was ludicrous. No disrespect to the Family or Paul Peterson who did a very nice job with the audibles, but had Prince sang this tune, it would have gone down as one of his classics in the same vein as When Doves Cry. 9. Into the Light Has he ever composed a more beautiful song? The piano intro alone is stunningly delicate and heavenly. 10. For You This is the first song on any Prince CD. If you've never heard it... you're doing yourself a disservice. BEAUTIFUL. Way ahead of his time... and I'm SHOCKED that this song doesn't get more recognition. No, it wasn't a hit, but the artistry and beauty of the voice is REDICULOUS! WHAT!!!!! Wow, what a special list... I'd go with (in no particular order): 1. Power Fantastic 2. Forever in my life 3. How come u don't call me anymore 4. Rockard in a funky place 5. Positivity 6. The one 7. Housequake 8. Days of wild 9. D.M.S.R. 10. Return of the flesh

Once again your genious proves itself rediculous. However to say that Prince's voice is worthy of mockery is surely an insult? Now go look up 'ridiculous' and come back and reword your post. Excuse me but... "Rediculous" here is used as a good thing. Kind of like when bad means good! It's a COMPLIMENT! Please refrain from accessing my posts in the future. The public is squeezin' you kiddo. You'd better kick ass on your next album or else!

From the top of my head:
- I Wanna be your lover (perfect pop song with an irresistable instrumental part, uncommon to include in a "simple" "mainstream"pop song) - Sister (pushing the boundaries...) - Controversy (inventing a new sound) - When doves cry (no bass, Linn drum sound & effects) - Kiss & Sign "o" the times (how to make a perfect popsong almost without an arrangement) - If I was your girlfriend (the studio as an instrument) - The ballad of dorothy parker (chord progressions and interaction with rhythm) - Curious child (almost classical) - Something in the water (the coldness of that song) - The one (just because it's beautiful and because of the beauty of his voice) And so much more.....

I'm surprised nobody mentioned 7 from the symbol album - a better song with a better story behind how it was made than La la la, he he he - it's the first song I use when people ask my why Prince is a genius.
The story goes something like this - he was recording the symbol album with the NPG, he comes into the studio one day and tells them to wait a bit. He sits down and starts recording tracks. Doesn't stop to listen to what he's done so far between tracks, but instead just records track after track and when he's done, he has the song 7. [Edited 11/8/08 8:34am]

I don't think Prince has written a better song than 7. He went to a higher plane with that one. It exemplifies his genius because only he could do it, it's unlike anything else and it was extremely catchy at the same time. Even if you thought it was weird, you wanted to sing along. I usually play this to any Prince doubters to shut em up. Wasn't it written in some egyptian mode? Who the hell else would do that with a pop song? It's like his "Good Vibrations." [Edited 11/8/08 8:38am] Its not bad, but its weighed down in excessive voice dubs and over the top sound effects and it just sounds like the rest of symbol, Hideously overproduced 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

"The Most Beautiful Girl in the World," was pure genius...It gave Prince reason to study, and write a 37 questionnaire that U just gotta hit...and It would also get him front row seats to the Miss America pageant"...Clever!
