osama bin laden... I was listening to a boot called "R U Gonna Go My Way" recorded in Dec. 1998...the last song Prince does is called "Osama Bin Laden gonna bomb"...or something like that...in the song he says that Osama Bin Laden's gonna bomb and "watch out..2001's coming"
It is very bizarre and scary at the same time...take a listen if you've got it...I've had it since '99 but never gave it much thought..

It wasn't all that prophetic, many threats had been made and US embassies abroad (In Kenya etc) had been bombed by this time.

There is nothing scary about it. And it certainly wasn't meant to be "prophetic".
This weird hybrid of a song incorporates the crescendo motif from "Also Sprach Zarathustra". This theme was used on the Stanley Kubrick flick "2001 A Space Odyssey" - hence the reference to the year "2001", even though Prince performed it onstage in 1998. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

This topic has been brought up before...Prince is not psychic. "The wee one" does not have special magic, or a crystal ball, sorry...Osama was a threat at the time he wrote it, and was all over the news back in '97, '98. 2001 has always been a year that movies, and people speculated about as a "time of doom" for the earth...Hence the "2001" reference.

Yeah, and the line "2001 is here y'all...I gotta go back to America... I gotta get ready for the bomb!" could easily have come from Die Hard 3.

Hehehe yeah "2001s coming..." just meant Marva King was about to do the scales of 2001 themetune.
I liked Marva, a strong female vocalist is a good backup...

Prince was being sarcastic. He knows that Bin laded is a scapegoat for the "Bansished Ones" or New World Order. Listen to "The Rainbow Children" its all about it. Bush and Laden are pals they are on the same side. Its all a movie. I think it (the song Bin laden)was Prince's way of saying this is all crap so lets just party.

At least Bin laden did not pass the hitlerish Homeland "Security" that will turn the US into nazi Germany in no time.

I never did pay any attention to it when I bought the aftershow, only after 9/11 it got my attention. But only because ther was in interview with Candy on Dutch radio about it. By that time I completly forgot about the song, well... okay the whole album.
It must be on the hub. Erik

Moderator | Listening to it now.
He says Holland. Also, bin laden made a statement around this time ( 1998 ) that he was going to do something big to America in 2001. And I'm sure Prince keeps up with current events as most apocalyptic believers do. So I'm sure he, along with most charasmatic and JW churches/kingdom halls is keeping a close eye on what's going on in the east. oh, scary!
