grown men doing rock music?

y´know - "no-one understands me, it´s me against the world. what about you? Yeah!"

I hope he pulls it off, we´ll see.

Uh, take a look at Iron Maiden, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, etc headbang bank accounts to see how silly it is biggrin

if they were my bank accounts it´d be great, but to watch Jagger, Bono, Ozzy making their millions this way it´s obviously ridiculous.
They´re not fooling anyone who´s at least a bit perceptive.

They look like clowns trying to keep up the payments on their lifestyles, their performances are shallow and clearly big bucks motivated.
That´s not what rock music is about.

No wishing for Prince’s Turn Me Loose on I-Tunes…or on any format for that matter!

Turn Me Loose was just a leak. The DJ got the cut from Prince’s studio after begging for it after just one listen! He promised not to play it on air, then couldn’t resist.

The song is not included on any cd and was recorded for posterity’s sake and placed in the vault.

Edna Gundersen, on the other hand, heard several tracks from an all-out rock and roll album that Prince just completed. It’s being mastered as we speak. No release date is being planned for the collection at this time.

Also in the works is a project with Tal Wilkenfeld & Michael B. providing the music for Shelby J’s debut cd. The first song, “North Carolina”, will feature Anthony Hamilton and Prince on backing vocals and will be released as soon as it is finished. Also planned is a NY book release party (details forthcoming) that the whole band and crew are looking forward to. Pray for an afterparty somewhere, people!-Dr.FB

Zzzzzz so the DJ couldn't resist playing it and Prince didn't sue his ass off..yeah right..what a load of rubbish.

How many projects does Prince actually record then consign to the vault...more than we know about I am sure...I will believe it all when I see it.

Oh by the way Prince..thanks for a crap book and the list of "sponsors" in the back..it really brought back lots of memories of your 21 Nights In London..I don't think!!!..nice CD though

I'll make sure Kim Gordon is informed of this, after all she's only been playing bass in Sonic Youth for 27 years. And Kim Deal started playing with the Pixies a mere 22 years ago. (There isn't an alt rock fan around who doesn't know about "the two Kims".) And I'll also inform Melissa Auf der Maur. And Lori Black. And Gail Ann Dorsey. And Jennifer Finch. And D'arcy Wretzky. And Michael Steele. And Tina Weymouth. And Aimee Mann. And Meshell Ndegeocello.

How can you grow up listening to Prince and spout such racist and sexist garbage? Here's a clue: take a look at the line-up of Sly & The Family Stone, arguably one of the most important funk bands ever.

Yeah, let's ignore bands like Booker T. and the MGs, or the Benny Goodman Trio. Oh, and you obviously don't know that integrated jazz bands had existed all through the 1940s and 1950s, times when jazz would be considered "popular" music.

HOLY SHIT! Thank you Bart for capturing that! cause apparently he got cold feet or something....
good lord! Right on Bart!

I agree with you. I know someone that is close to the dj and the pd at KJLH and the song definitely came from Prince. He did NOT let the man hear it and they "couldn't resist" playing the track.

I'm sure if he had played an unreleased live performance or "Wonderful Ass" he would have been suing Stevie Wonder, the PD and the DJ for playing the song.

Good to know Turn Me Loose won't see the light of day. That song was the epitome of mediocrity.

The prospect of a rock album definitely excites me, but I hope it isn't filled with songs that are drowned out in the mix by outdated synths.

If there is any song on there anywhere near as good as F.U.N.K., it's already better than his last three albums.

Believe me, it didn't just "turn up". It wouldn't surprise me if Prince didn't do a package promo deal. I think he wanted to expose Bria and get some promotion for her. In return, they would get to play an unreleased Prince track.
