somebody conned me way back in 1984 by saying he was the new Michael Jackson and that I should get 1999. I bought it, hated it for ages because it wasn't "off the wall" but having a monster collection of about 10 LP's at the time forced me to play the odd track I enjoyed. Slowly 1999 grew on me, Purple Rain came out and that was it.Hooked.Without Delirious and DMSR I reckon I might have given up.
I am not sure this could happen now, because listening to a full album has become rarer...even I just pick the tunes I immediatly love from new disks and slap them on the i-pod. The rest just stay in the library.

I had a roommate in college back in the late 80s who played him CONSTANTLY. She was collecting bootlegs on cassettes back in the day. After a while, I started 2 hear stuff I hadn't heard on the radio, and thought, "He's not that bad". When Sign O' the Times came out, I flipped! After that, I wanted everything before it, and couldn't wait for the next thing.
I went 2 my 1st show in 1993, and that TOTALLY sealed the deal. I've seen him live 25 times since.

I was just becoming interested in music at 12 and fell in love with 1999 and Little Red Corvette, although didn't get the album until after Purple Rain was out. Then ofcourse became totally hooked.

I remeber 1st seeing Prince on T.V in the videoclip Controversy around the same time I also saw Sexuality. At this stage I thought the songs were kinda cool but I suppose I didnt really know what to think about this dude in the fishnets I was only 13 at the time.
Next was the song 1999 I would see the videoclip and hear it on the radio I found the song really catchy it got into my head and was enough to motivate to put my pocket money towards the 1999 album. I did like that album but it was just another album in my collection of different records I wasnt quite in my own mind a "Prince Fan" at this stage and I still really didnt know what to think about the guy, I remeber my school bus would stop next to a newsagent where there was this billboard of Prince in his Pink Jacket I would walk past it every day on the way to school I would aknowledge it but didnt really know what to think about Prince.
About 1 year and half later I had moved towns and a friend of mine had let me listen to the cassette of PurpleRain on his headphones whilst we had a day at the beach, man I just couldnt stop listening to that album it just grew on me I asked my friend if I could borrow it I dont think he ever got it back lol anyway since that time onward I became an official Prince fan and would set about buying every Prince album I could get my hands on and finding out evrything I could about anything Prince related. I am 38 years old now and since 13/14/15 still a fan after all those years.

It was 78 wen I herd want 2 b ur luvr on the radio and went crazy ovr his voice. Went more crazy wen I saw the video the same week. Aftr that I started doing talent shows being him. I made my own clothes and copied his dance moves and the voice just 2 b #1 n the competitions. I used 2 take 1st,2nd, and 3rd n all the comps. It was fun.
