That's what I'm saying...I've seen P say in an interview with Larry King that he wasn't carzy about people covering his songs. I think it is a double standard. He doesn't feel that whoever covers his songs is good enough to do it justice BUT on the other hand, he feels that he can do a song justice when he covers it. Unless of course one of his idols covers one of his songs, THEN he's cool with that. Whatever....I usually don't like when people cover P's material and I don't like it when P covers other's as well. The only cover I think P did a good job on is Betcha By Golly Wow by The Stylistics. But when P plays covers live, nah...Like his version of "The Jam" by GCS was VERY watered down from the original. At least the one that I saw.

Prince does let other's sing his songs...and I agree with Prince not letting a bad version of a song, or a bygone song be redone.

And many artists have done covers of his B sides

And Nothing Compares 2 U was covered by Sinead O Connor and that was number 1 I think

Prince explains this in an interview on the web. He does NOT like people covering his songs. He stated that it was perfect when he does the song and that is how the song was meant to be. He doesn't want it to be changed. Anyone that covers his songs does not need to seek his permission. The artist simply needs to pay a fee to the record company and they are able to cover the song.
