Two Prince albums make OUT Magazines 100 Greatest, Gayest Albums of all time See #57 and #43
>>>>To create our list of the 100 Greatest, Gayest Albums of All Time, we polled more than 100 actors, comedians, musicians, writers, critics, performance artists, label reps, and DJs, asking each to list the 10 albums that left the most indelible impressions on their lives. After receiving responses from Boy George, Rufus Wainwright, Cyndi Lauper, the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray, Candis Cayne, Perez Hilton, Nate Berkus, Jake Shears, John Cameron Mitchell, Wilson Cruz, Justin Bond, Darren Hayes, Junior Vasquez, Bruce Vilanch, Janis Ian, the Cliks, Ari Gold, Holly Johnson, and a slew of others, we tallied the results to determine our top-100 list. You’ll notice we expanded the catalog to include not only records by queer musicians but also any records that have had relevance to those voting. While albums by Elton John, k.d. lang, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, and Ani DiFranco appeared time and again on the lists, many celebrities included what they consider gay masterpieces by mostly straight acts like ABBA, Donna Summer, and, of course, Madonna. So here they are: the seminal, flamboyant, trailblazing, gender-bending, campy, theatrical, audacious, unforgettable albums that changed our lives. 100 The Beatles - Sgt. It's cool to see the gay community showing some love to Mr Prince with this list. Cool stuff! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Nice, but they missed the mark here. Controversy is waaaaay gayer than Purple Rain. He posed the straight or gay question, sang about "Sexuality" and let's not forget "Jack U Off." "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

True. Their first album is really the only one that hints at gay themes (e.g, "The sun shines out of our behinds", ect.) Their other albums are pretty gender-neutral. I guess The Aluminum Group aren't well-known enough to be on the list. It's a glaring omission in my opinion. How can two gay brothers who blatantly sing songs about their affairs with men not make the list? "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

Lovesexy and Controversy should be on that list, as for Anna stesia is the line "Have you ever wanted 2 play with some1 so much, you'd take anyone boy or girl". Songs like Do Me Baby, Jack u off and Private Joy could include gay stuff too.
And where the hell are Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler on that list 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

As a homo, I find the mere existence of this list incredibly boring if not offensive.
Music isn't 'gay'. And not all gay men are interested in 'the gay community' or being campy or 'gender-bending'. Out magazine exists to CREATE this false gay community and gay market. They exist to tell homosexual men how to BE. They create and expand gay markets so they can sell to gay markets. It's always "HERE's the music you should listen to. Here's what you should wear. HERE's the celebrities you are supposed to be obsessed with, Here's how to act. Here's how to be." What's gross is how many gay people fall into line.

I actually agree, such lists do actually perpetuate straight stereotypes of perceived gay behaviour, which really is trying to make the actual gay community conform to ridiculous stereotypes. I mean really why is a song considered gay because the artists involved appeal to gays or they are perceived to be or perhaps the lyrical matter of the song is supposed to appeal to us, or in fact the gay community should respond most favourably to any semi complimentary label straights give us. May be, but this list and the ghetto mentality it creates is by flamers (militant gays) who expect others to conform to their stereotypes, they chose this list and expect all gays to fall in line and respect those records as camp masterpieces, when really some are just there because of the sexuality or appeal of the performer (either gay, or tragic diva type lyrics). I mean Bowie admitted that the Ziggy album was a publicity stunt and altho he may have experimented, has always been a big time heterosexual using the gay label in the 70s to get attention and hits. Come the conservative 80s hes militantly straight with Lets Dance and even borderline homophobic. Great music yes, but to me thats the Benedict Arnold of music. To me gays are like everyone else individuals (I am a fellow gay too), and should have their own feelings and be jusdged as individual people rather than who they chose to sleep with in private. I like Streisand because of her voice, her outstanding vocal talent and entertainer capacities, not just because some gay or straight says like Streisand because shes a gay icon. Easily the best response here, thank you 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Dirty Mind? did they even listen to the record or just look at the cover
that album is not gay at all.every sexual innuendo on that album is about women. even the song regarding incest is about a woman not a man. gotta broken heart again- " I got a broken heart again, cuz my only supposed to be friend. you see he stole my old lady away from me and ooohhh im just as blue as i can be" uptown-"she said are you gay? that took me by suprise. i didnt know what to do. just looked her in her eyes and said. No. are you?" just a few examples but that album does not deserve to be on the list. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!
