What Prince song really made U think about Ur imortaltity It was hours after my Grandfather passed away in mid '96 when I listened 2 Still Would Stand All Time,(after numerous listenings in the past) that I realized why we're here... any thoughts? -- take a listen... with an open mind...and "all things will B fine ."

Last December. And I guess, for the avoidance of doubt, I should add that I do not believe I am immortal. u don't really know me, u just think u do

The prelude to LET'S GO CRAZY.
I was maybe 12 and I was fascinated by his messages. The song comes on with such urgency and gravity -- the gravity of a funeral-- and then it escalated with even more urgency. The line about Dr. Everything'll Feel Alright made me question how people skate through life in a fog instead of facing it head on... in the wind.. even if it makes you crazy. AT 12, the line "Ask him how much of your mind, baby..." penetrated me deeply. And then it continued: "Cause in this life things are much harder than in the afterworld. In this life, you're on your own." That was chilling. I remember thinking I really wanted to kick ass in this life so I could enjoy the afterworld thinking "Man, I really kicked ass." It was more than a party song to me. And still it. I LURVE it. Last December.
Especially that last verse: "In ur life didnt u just give a little? Or did u give all that u had?" and also Anna Stesia makes me ponder the whole idea of God's power and how it somewhat turned Prince's life around (didn't realize he'd been facing the wrong direction). I've often thought of the line "have u ever felt so lonely that u felt like u were the only one in this world?" as something I can understand. It makes sense for me because there have been times I've been that lonely. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Gold still makes my hairs on my arms stand on their ends. It was a song that I listended to whilst pregnant and the song was surely overplayed whilst Princelet was a baby as she used to settle when it was playing. That will be one of the closest songs for me.
That and 'The love we make'. That sends shivers down my spine. Funny how you can hear so many messages within one single song, Its how we perceive it I guess. One moment it can be a positive song and then wow, its totally the opposite.

One moment it can be a positive song and then wow, its totally the opposite. "Gold" hasn't made me think of my immorality, per se, but I hold it closer to my heart than any of Prince's other songs. I'm surprised someone else has similar feelings about it. It's my go-to song that I'd listen to whenever I needed some advice and it would usually answer whatever question I had about what I'd do next either with Prince or with life in general. had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. "When Doves Cry" because the lyrics are drenched in pathos and regret.

God. ..In her chills, I'll force a burst..Erotic thrills, so good, it hurts..My motions 2 her velvet, she'll strike it as love..Rain from her pelvis..ended with doves..

Purple Rain and let me explain. When I was in high school another student died and at that age thinking someone could die is a traumatic thing. anyway, purple rain was the hot song at that time and i'd hear it all the time while i'd be thinking of it all, it's the reason the song has never really been a favorite of mine. sad.
