Also this video is soo about Mayte. The whole pregnancy scene, the scene of Prince and the video woman wearing white... looks a lot like those pics of Mayte and Prince wearing white in the magazine article.

The part where prince says (I know you can dance) and the woman is a dancer.

yes, see my take on this is that Prince was disillusioned about his relationship with Mayte. Maybe by this time, things were gettting ugly between them. The line about the reason why Adam never left Eve was a solid reference to Mayte's pregnancy and maybe Prince's way of giving reason for his motivation for his marriage to Mayte. The video really seems to show his disappointment or bitterness about the demise of his relationship with his "soul mate".

The last part of the song where he says I give in to you, etc. Seems to be a totally different direction than the rest of the song and video.

I agree that this is probably his best video.

Its very well put together and enjoyable to watch, so many others are bland in comparison and fragmented.

The only one comparable IMO is Te amo, which is also really well filmed.


I think this is definately about Mayte, but your thoughts about their relationship is interesting, but I dont think that is what the song is about. I think its purely a biblical reference/study/observation. I think it is questioning the idea of romance and that in fact babies are what keeps people together.

This could very well be the case. or it could be a comparison of his marriage to the marriage of Adam and Eve.

The line in the song where he says "I know that can dance but what about the greatest romance" still makes me think this song was directed at Mayte, a great love, who had a baby with him, and a great dancer.
