So fantastic - you get to descover him for the first time..... There is nothing better.... I remember the first time I watched Sign of the Times Concert on TV.... That feeling like OMG - He is amazing.....

Just promise me one thing? Please don't start posting pics of Prince with his cat, getting out of his car, looking at his phone, waiting for a lift, etc.
And eventually (as a Prince fan) you'll be able to hear a live rendition of Controversy. Now that is something else. | |

Some classics on there but mixed and extended versions which you probably haven't heard in that format before. That's why I love it so much. You hear all the same songs hundreds of times so it's really good to hear them slightly differently. Especially Pop Life. It's STILL not long enough!! I know I hold you too tight, but I just can't seem to get close enough | |

But what you forget is that a new Prince fan can get a good idea of what songs/era he or she likes best. Even though many are radio edits. AND it's the only place where you can get the most b-sides in a good quality. | |

If you want to go down that route, I would definitely recommend The Hits/The B-Sides, as it offers the best overview of his career. It's a 3-disc set: the first 2 discs are "hits" and the third disc consists of B-sides. You can probably find it without much expense, as other (weaker) compilations have come out since then. Good choice. Cannot go wrong with this man's advice! | |

Do The Hits/bsides first, then you can go from there to Ultimate Prince, and if you decide you only want to be a casual fan stop there, but then try Purple Rain, his most well known album, then 1999, SOTT, Parade and Diamonds and Pearls, maybe then if u r adeventurous, try the Gold experience, Dirty Mind, Controversy, Lovesexy, Symbol, Musicology and 3121, after that you will be seasoned enough to get the rest. For the real completeist try 94 east featuring Prince, 4U, Crystal Ball and The Truth.
Good luck on the long journey ahead, give urself a year at least as most of us orgers are 10 or plus year Prince fanatics and some are 30 year fans (I am 17 years myself) 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince | |
