I remember CLEARLY when this was first released..the b-side to Let's Go Crazy. It was 3 songs that got played in EVERYBODY'S car during this time period. No matter where u went, no matter who was in the cars, this is what u heard LOUDLY...It was either When Doves Cry or Let's Go Crazy or Erotic City. And sometimes in areas where cars were allowed to cruise, u would hear Erotic City in one car playing at the same time as another car was blasting Erotic City. Easily, u could hear up to 4 cars all in spitting distance of each other, all playing Erotic City. And then u would hear a car playing LGC and WDC in the mist of the other cars bumping EC. It was like this for a good 6 weeks easy all over Southern California. Prince OWNED it in 84 and 85. Simply owned it. He definately REIGNED purple everywhere. Yes, those were the years. The only thing close to that was Minneapolis in 2004 when Prince was doing the Musicology tour and came back home as the Number One recording Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. Prince music was blaring everywhere, and the newspapers were covered in purple news. Magic...
