Still a wonderful live act... when he isn't butchering his old songs

I think Prince has a button on his desk similar to the Staples "Easy Button", except his is a "What Would Jehovah Do?" button.

He records a song, hits the WWJD button, and if the song is still there he releases it. All the stuff we consider "good" goes POOF and vanishes in order to save Prince's soul.

All kidding aside, his conscience is his guide and unfortunately all the "best" material for music (sex, anger, raunchiness, etc) isn't what Prince is about anymore.

If "Musicology," "3121," and "Planet Earth," are garbage...Than I will live in a Trash can with a purple Oscar.

Prince new music isnt bad compared too other artists, but compared too Prince-standards its bad.
But its still better then most of the other music you hear on the radio.

This fucking board. How can you, as an aggregate not evolve? The problem here is that both sides are wrong.

The letter of “the law” states that anyone can say pretty much what they want to say. The problem with that is, most of the time people don't know what the hell they're talking about in the first place. They just spew shit without providing support or facts to back up their “point of view”. This doesn't do anyone any good. People like this are the worst kind of human being.

On the other side, you have the yes man. That's almost as bad.

The proper way to express an opinion -

I hated Lovesexy. I told my friends, “It sounds like he just threw this together.” He put effort into the previous releases, and I was proud to spend money on them. I was proud to put the cover art on my walls. But I was taken on Lovesexy.

My support for that subjective rant? Prince himself provides my support. He said in an interview (I think it was the RS interview in 1990) the album took 7 weeks to put together. I don't care how fast you record, that's a mess. All new original material cut, edited, produced, and submitted to Warner's in less than two months. That's a rush job. All that, and the album really only yields one decent track. And on the subject of one track, why is he forcing me to listen to it beginning to end every time on the CD? Then he doesn't have the courtesy to put “Good Love” on there. A track that, thematically speaking, is a perfect fit. He said it best when he dismissed it so quickly, “Lovesexy was a trip, you either went on it, or you didn't.” Or something to that affect.

Now fast forward a dozen or so years to NEWS. I didn't like NEWS much either, but you could tell by actually listening to the damn thing, he took his time and enjoyed what he was doing. The music on there was a quality effort, it simply wasn't my cup of tea.

I won't tell you not to share your opinion, but I will tell you how to share it.
