has anyone heard anything similar??? No! Just the emotional pain of that happening is enough to drive people apart, I'm sure that wasn't the case, these things can't be blamed on anyone, it's just very, very sad... emotional pain, I can understand that. maybe if it hadn't been the first baby. couples have miscarriages from time to time.

And the 'beautiful can't do no harm' Prince treated Mayte after the tragic loss of their baby with: going touring and leave her all alone at home. he is such a charm...

No, I didn't think you were laughing... and no they don't have to break up because of them, but even a miscarriage can 'rock' a relationship, it's a painful thing. To actually lose a full term baby, a week after birth is one of the worst things that could probably ever happen to anyone! Devastating, some couples might get through it, others just can't...

that might have been true during the patriarchal era, but the age of aquarius (the age of reason) signals a return to the matriarchal era, like it was in the golden age, with maternal figures ruling the roost. doesnt mean men are no longer valued for their views, but women have been wrongly suppressed, and everyone with a conscience knows it. all the men have to do is trust thats its ok for their ladies to have the final say, trust maternal wisdom and the caring guiding nurturing hand of feminine energy. its no longer about ego, but doing what is best for everyone. harry the turtle got mugged by a gang of snails. he doesnt know how. it all happened so fast.

This is one beautiful song. Very sad, especially after the song and Rave Un2... came out but still amazing. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Ugh, that's another creepy element of that song. It's definitely about Mayte, and singing about plucking the flower of his favorite protegee is so self-serving. I think it's pretty safe to assume that Sheila didn't have a flower left to pick by the time she was with Prince.

Ewwwww. That's just wrong and nasty. 30peacessilver said: explain self serving please
I probably didn't put it the best way. I just think this song seems very affected and not genuine to me. It's like he wrote the song to garner sympathy for himself and for the great wrongs he felt he had endured. Something about the protegee line especially smacks of that in a singular way.
