There are a couple of songs off of each album that could have been hits...I don't know how songs climb to the top of the charts without airplay...The song that surprises me...is "Musicology." There's favoritism, in the business world of music...and that is a disappointment.

"Musicology," should've made number one...and the award shows would've been different that year.

I'm surprised to read that several people listed "Sometimes It Snows In April". Great song but not a commercial chance in the world imo.

This is why hits compilations always suck, because most of Prince's best stuff WASN'T a single. He's the type of artist who needs a 'best of', not a hits CD.

How can you have a decent Prince compilation without non-singles like Housequake, Adore, When You Were Mine and non-hits like Girls & Boys (euro-only single), IIWYGF, etc.


I'll add some 90s ones to the list: Interactive, Endorphinmachine, Shy, Pheromone, Come (Beautiful Experience version).

A bit off-topic: Baby Knows was released as a single over here in the Netherlands.
I remember it didn't get beyond place 20 in the top 40. There was also no video released for the song.

By the way, i remember some other 'strange' single choices in the Netherlands.

The Future was released as a CD-single, with 2 songs on it: the house remix of The Future and a remix of Electric Chair.
There was also a video for the song: Live-material from Prince performing The Future, but with the sound of the remix dubbed over it.
As far as my memory goes, that song went to around nr.12 in the singlecharts.

Pink Cashmere was also released as a single, to support The Hits CD's. Was that a worldwide singlerelease?

Also, Paisley Park was an official single release in The Netherlands. I remember the video (with the kids playing in the park, the colourfull dressed people, and the psychedelic visual effects) was showed quite a lot on TV during the release of the single

I thin The One is one of Prince's best slow songs. It doesn't get much play but was an awesome song. Can't remember what album it was on though. I am trying to find it on the net but to no avail..any help?
