SIGN O THE TIMES - Extended???

Just heard Chaka Khan's CD, Funk This, in it she does a cover of 'Sign O The Times'.
I noticed that she does a part at the end where she sings 'Don't you know we can change the world, every boy and every girl..." over and over again, giving the song a good ending.
Is this an improvisation on her part or is there a Prince version of this song with those words? The writing credit is all to Prince so wonder if its taken from a possible extended version?!

She's singing original lyrics that Prince omitted from his recording.

^Are you sure about that, or just speculating? It's possible I guess. Chaka and Prince have been friends now for quite a while. But I also (vaguely) remember reading somewhere that the part in question is also a homage to another song altogether (non-Prince song, that is). I can't remember where I read that though, so don't quote me. But it could also just be 100% Chaka, Jam & Lewis. It's not that uncommon for cover versions to have their own little bits to them, even without the writing credit.

I'd say the adlibed. But with P you never know. There is no other version circulating that has those lyrics.

Yep, it would seem it's adlibbed.

There's no known/circulating longer version of SOTT, in fact IIRC, the album version is the extended version, since the original (from Dream Factory) was shorter, and it was extended for CB.

Nina Simone's version carries some mean adlibbing as well

i've always thought about this.is there an extended version.?on billboards dance chart where it reached number 2 it's listed as a remix.on the maxi single/dance singles sales chart where it reached number 1..it's not listed as a remix.
