Depth? It's certainly a different sound and certaimly a congruent sound. Prince is normally all over the place, so comparison is not that easy, though i would say Prince has put out a lot of stunning music over the past 20 years that blows most of Back to Black away. Maybe not in a full on album, but there's plenty of material that is beeter than BTB. Christian Zombie Vampires

Amy , ...is that you Amy? OMG amy whinehouse uses our forum!!!! Maybe its Blake getting some internet time from the prison But no one can never ever compare these two souls, they not even in the same league. Look even Prince felt pity for her at the Indigo night after she performed on stage with him, coz when she finished singing, he said how we should take care of her, you know why? Coz shes a lost, deluded crackhead thats why. Also not everyone likes the back to black album i dont find it deep i just find very depressing as we call it, its slit ur wrists music. And just because its a big hit doesnt mean its a great, its only one album shes famous for, i mean really, when is she gonna do some new music instead of keep on singing the same old tired shit at every peformance she does??? Well, thats if u can call them performances these days Prince at 23 was constantly lived for making music and was planning world domination and not piping crack.

Back To Black is one of those rare albums where everything just works.
Why did everything jive so well? I dont think even Amy and her producers know if they could recreate that magic. I'm not taking anything away from Prince,.... Back To Black is just better than almost anything from anybody in the last 10 years.

(...) Depth. Relevance to the actual world. Insight. Now try again! Like I said: what's so "deep" about singing:"They tried to make me go to rehab and I said: no, no, no"? Good point. It isn't. Of course, "I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth" isn't the most eloquent writing from our Princey either. The thing is, her lyrics are pretty decent, probably better then most of Prince. Her singing is drenched with emotion (melancholy, depression, lovetorn) and she literary cries her lyrics. It comes from a deep. On the other hand Prince mostly evokes different emotions, which are actually pretty strong too! Prince channels exuberance, sex, cool like there's no tomorrow. So, in a nutshell, they're both deep, Prince on the happy side, Amy on the heartbroken side. See? You can compare artists.

Back to Black is actually better than most albums that have been released in the last 5 to 10 years.
Amy Winehouse is definitely her own unique talent. Back to Black probably has captured a great time in her life, the fusion of fame, love, and all the partying she had done at the time. Amy could put all those experiences into the music. The problem Amy has had is she not stopped partying, she has not had her "LoveSexy" epiphany to save her from herself. So now Amy cannot make the music she loves so much. Amy missed out on the James Bond song this year and who knows what else. Amy needs some Lovesexy. I would hate to see Amy go out like Janis Joplin. Thirty years from now we will nee Amy Winehouse. I hope she gets better soon.
