Pepe wille said that in febuary of 1979 Andre cymone was working on do me ,baby. Who do u think wrote that song. I feel that Prince took from it and made it is own. i don't know 4 sure.

I've mentioned this on here many times in the past...that P asked Dre if it was cool to do one of Dre's songs, "Red Light", that dates back to early 82, which was a b-side of Dre's, not found on the 1985 album "A.C.". P told him he wanted to do this track and include it on the 1999 album. Of course Dre said no. P and Dre stayed close friends, even during the early 80's.. Many didn't understand why Dre would do one of P's songs "The Dance Electric". But they were like brothers. Cats do shit that's fucked up, but if there's a bond,...I always believed that's why Dre didn't sue P for Do Me Baby. But that's just my thought.

Nobody thinks that. People are a little doubtful because Andre did not sue.
I think we all know P is human and it is obvious that P and Andre have some sort of bond but that had beefs to just like all friends.

It also does not help that a section of the song sounds like the Eddie Hazel song. So it then looks like Andre ripped off Eddie Hazel.

In past topics about this very issue on this very site, there were posts made by other orgers who actually used the phrase "I think Prince is above doing this." That's the very reason I stated that. And the topic wasn't about the music sounding like "the Eddie Hazel song". Hell, you don't even know the name of the song by Eddie Hazel..You're so busy trying to speak for everybody when you need to go ask somebody what the name of the song is...Damn.. This is very intriging. One thing's for sure and I think bboy87 said it ealrier, I would LOVE to hear Andre's version of Do Me Baby and I'd love to hear Red Light too.

and yet Prince has never been taken to court over it. Perhaps because Andre has no proof?...therefore, and I say this with respect Blackguitarist, at this point what you're offering is heresay and inadmissable in court, and without Andre's offering of proof, it's potential slander, if indeed he said it.

The reason P said Dre told him that he was crazy in the first place was because Andre was refering to himself as crazy for even considering doing one of P songs. That's what P was talking about. BUT yet, Andre did the song. Like I posted earlier, P and Dre were close.

Besides, musicians who are around each other, especially as long as they had been together up to that point, share ideas back and forth and incorporate them into their own songs, giving little to no credit to the person who first inspired the song or "gave" the initial riff upon which the entire song was built.

As for "Do Me, Baby" -- I believe what Andre has told blackguitaristz. I tend to think that maybe there was an early discussion about Prince using the song eventually, but things fell apart and when Prince brought it up again, 'Dre said "NO!" and Prince shot back. My thoughts.

As for the Eddie Hazel thing... hey, there's only so many notes and the similarity isn't enough to call it a rip.
