Maybe if you check inside of the album cover you may find your info. I know that the whole egyptian theme was inspired by mayte, so that is why he made it that way. Prince might have had a little say so with the designing..but not much.

I don't know.
But I never really liked the curly thing (don't understand why it's in there). I think he should have kept using the original symbol:

Knowing prince and how he always comes up with new things, he probably designed it himself. Maybe not actually drawing it out on paper, but he probably instructed someone on how he wanted it done..just a lucky guess!

I think he should have kept using the original symbol: I heard that someone had actually suggested this design to him, but then that he ended up just running over it with his motorcycle. Or am I thinking of a cassette tape that belonged to Wendy & Lisa.....?

Yeah saw that before, very interesting. Personally I reckon, prince wanted a new logo based on his male/female thing he had been using for years. His intrepid graphics team did logo/symbol research, found that soapstone thing and then post rationalised it's meaning. "yes Prince it's got man, yeah..woman and god of course and look we got the symbol for sound in there and the top looks a bit egyptian don't you think? you like egyptian at the moment don't you? a bit like an inverted eye?" "Do you like it P, do you?" sold. I did read an article in Q once which broke it down to the god/male/female/trumpet/egyptian eye. But who knows? r "My God it's full of Stars"

All that really change was the hornpiece...through the center...as far as inspiration goes...Prince was already inspired to use symbolism...that connected men and women...and I am sure the Egyptians that left their work around...don't mind that Prince kept it going...
When people talk about inspiration...it kills me, when anyone acts as if stealing a line or a logo...is anyone else's but God's in the first place... God pours everything into the hearts of men and women...and if you don't believe that then I can assume you are an atheist. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Which can be stolen by an uninspired one. ..and if you don't believe that then I assume you are a book keeper. "My God it's full of Stars"

Yes, I remember now...there was a thread in here quite a while back discussing the symbolism and objects of each of the letters and numbers.
