What are you guys' fav prince songs (choose your ultimate #1) and why?

17 Days b/c I can listen to it over n over n over again without getting tired...I think Shes Always in my hair is my # 1 1/2 and then Why dont U call Me anymore is # 2

"Crazy You." because it is a song that introduces Prince's lonliness...as well as prove that he has a long career ahead of him.

Probably 'Girl', the b-side to America. But only the extended 12" version, which is sublime.

Why? Memories. And the fact that the song just seems longer than it really is.

The beautiful is one of my fav. I was in 8th grade and my boyfriend at the time, sang it to me at lunch time. I still know where he lives. It's a small world. he married some chick i went to high school with. She was pretty nice. oh well

My ultimate #1 would probably have to be My Name is Prince!!!! That song is off the chain. Being that I am a dancer, I really got a kick out of this one. I rememebr the first time I heard it was on tv because he had the one commercial for the album, and I went out and bought it the next day. I played the song,and I just could not stop dancing. I eventually got tired, but it was worth it

As for me, after a long debate with myself, I have to say I have a new ultimate #1, and it's Controversy. For a long time its been #2 behind When Doves Cry, but for some reasons the song just fits me.

When Doves Cry, first P song I ever heard. I was blown away, I didn't know that a human could make music like that. I have been a great admirer of his work ever since.

This is a veeeeery difficult question to answer, just because he's written so many amazing songs and, depending on the day and mood I'm in, it changes regularly.

However, I will ALWAYS love "Pink Cashmere"...

Well, I would go with "Crucial" both for musical and personal contents.

I remember when I was discovering Prince's music in late 80's (my first Prince album was "Lovesexy", still my favourite) and I came across the "Crucial" boot with the two versions of the song.

I was amazed how a song like that wasn't on any album. It was a musical heaven and some kind of "forbidden" treasure to listen to.

In some weird kind of way, if possible it becames more loved from me when P badly butchered it for the "Crystal Ball" 1998 release (wow, a third of song cutted to make room for 14 minutes of "Clooren Baconskin... thanks again, P).
