Annie Chirstian? What is Prince talking about in the song Annie Christian? Is he blaming women for bad things that have happened? Is he refering to the U.S goverment "ya know when people use the term "her" mother Africa or The U.S as "she." Is he refering to the Devil doing all these things? And when he sings "Until your crucified, I'll spend my life in taxi cabs. Does he mean that he'll be on the run or that taxi cabs are his safe point?

Taxi cabs indeed seem to be some kind of metaphor for a safe point where he can relax or find peace, without having a steady home where he could be tracked down. Also see "Lady Cab Driver" and " Joint 2 Joint". In Joint 2 Joint, the taxi seems to stand for relaxation and an escape after the wild and chaotic atmosphere that precedes it.There are quite a few taxi references in his music but I can´t really remember them off the top of my head. Taxis were kind of a running metaphor for a while in his music. I don't think he's used it in recent years though. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |

whatever the hell he talkn bout its one of the darkest coldest songs they dont write shit like that no more i call em fridays songs cuz i remember when that cd was out and it would be late nite i would b riding in the backseat of the car wit my moms and she would be bumpin this 8 track and i thought this was the funkiest song ever and i was like 6 then and i still love it 2 this day | |
