Video for "Paisley Park"

In '85 a friend told me they saw a video for the song Paisley Park. I had the imported single and knew of Prince's claim that there would be no videos for the entire album (just one of many things Prince changed his mind over). Well, apparently the video never made it to heavy rotation back then. I did see it on the net afew years ago and always wondered if that was really it. It just showed kids playing and looked like it was shot by a film student. Anyone have any info about this video?

it's a really crap video. i always hate it when people get all excited about finding it, because i know once they actually watch it they're going to be let down.

This is the song and video that actually made me a Prince fan. Sure i'd heard Purple Rain and 1999 but something about Paisley Park really captivated me when i saw it on Music Box(Europes answer to MTV in the 1980's). I have this video to thank and it was actually in heavy rotation in Europe.

Handel

Yes, it was heavily on rotation here in Europe. I kinda admired Prince for putting out such a low key video for that song when back in those days he was really in a position to splash out on a lavish promo as opposed to the mid nineties when he was nearly broke.

It showed a less flashy side of his character.

Well there ya go...I am sure that film student is older now...always time to enhance "Paisley Park," with a matured vision. razz

Yeah they showed it a lot on MTV here right into the early 90s. I always like it. smile

ill One of his worst. No wonder the song didn't do very well. It wasn't a good choice for a single either.

That and Graffiti Bridge...at least there is precedence with that one.

Dont mind the vid, has a retro groovy feel to it, and Prince had likely had enough time in the spotlight , so more apt to hand the reigns over to young director and say go for it.

MY Q, I have an old Prince book from his heydays, cannot recall author, but in back of book, they list all his videos up to that point, one being Bambi (European release only). I have never seen any evidence of such a video, anyone?
