No, all of them have been openly critical of him, seems to be the case in love nowadays, Liking Prince is an acquired art
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

No, in fact it was sheer torture for him to be with me at the opening concert+ aftershow last year in London. The other two shows I went on my own and had the best time, and that's okay. The only Prince song he likes is WDC ...I must say, though, that he was impressed by P and the band's professionalism.

I've always dated guys who either "kinda" liked Prince ("Yeah, Purple Rain was cool"), or downright hated him.

I've told this story B4, but I was engaged during the "Musicology" tour. My EX-fiance told me point-blank that it was a waste of money, he wasn't going, and neither should I. mad
I ended up going to 2 shows (one ticket was a gift). THEN they announced a show on my birthday in Philly. I was sooo excited, that I gave him an ultimatim: I wanted 2 go, and I wanted my FIANCE 2 come with me. THAT ASS made me buy both tix (on my birthday!), then when we picked up the tix at will-call, they were in the 2nd row on the side where the band entered/exited the stage and Prince played toward! omg
That fool stood there with his arms folded the entire night like he was bored. bored At one point Prince tried to hype the crowd- I'm still convinced it was directed @ him- 6'2" right in front! eek A friend of mine has a DVD of that show- I was sooo embarrassed when I saw him standing there like a stiff! shake

NOW... I'm seeing someone who might B a bigger fan than I am. We discuss and trade the music, talk about our experiences at shows (B4 we met), and just enjoy our mutual hobby. mushy
He's on HQ, tho. pout lol

surely music is all about the fun the sharing etc

my husband likes prince too which is great as we can have prince up super loud!!

although he wasnt too keen on doing more than two concerts last year - Id have gone to loads!!!

So far every guy I know has issues about Prince lol Every boyfriend has "tolerated" my silliness and they are all gone now. He's a good test of how cool any dude out there is. If a guy can't hang w/Prince absolutely no way will he be able to handle me. lol

It's just refreshing 2 share musical taste with someone. It's not just about Prince- we just mesh musically. thumbs up!

As for finding "The One", music's not the most important thing. I mean, the EX- & I didn't break up because of music (another thread! lol). I just want someone who's not going 2 put me down for MY choices. He & his family were really into jazz. They acted like I was uncultured because I didn't know every Rachelle Ferrell song. confused They (his family) could NOT fathom how he could be attracted 2 someone who's more into rock than hip-hop.
He didn't even want my CDs added 2 the collection when I started moving in. THAT kind of stuff makes it hard.

I've had relationships where we met either talking about or listening to Prince, but those days are LONG gone.

My current gf isn't a fan. She doesn't dislike him, but she's just not into him which is great, because lately I haven't been either.

The guy I'm seeing now is into Prince. He even has a Prince CD, Diamonds and Pearls. He's nowhere near the type of fan that I am but I'm cool with that. As long as he doesn't try to put me down because of that, then we're cool.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

My x, (we're still friends) likes some of Prince's songs. And does throw a "Tell that, to Prince!" when we argue every now and then. Just to be obnoxious. giggle

Mind you I've never overshadowed our relationship with "Prince this & Prince that"...type of behavior. It's that anyone who knows me, knows I love Prince's music.

My husband has his tattoo ! we both like Prince it's nice to see him playing his Cd's in the car, and going to concerts with me! But Prince's music has been with me from the beginning and me playing it all the time he sees what a awesome musician he is, and when I got my Prince tattoo he liked it and got the same on his arm! My bedroom is a Prince room a lot of his memorabilia up around the bed room, so I am glad he is cool with it. Any man would have to be to be with me! LOL

My Honey's down with Prince but he's not into music like I am. It' more of a respect and appreciation because of my enthusiac fandom. I can play anything from 1988 on and there are lot's of songs he's not familiar with.
His favorite Prince song is 'I Hate U'. He finds my deep knowledge of Prince fascinating and scary. cool So do I....

it means that i can UNDERSTAND y he stood there with his arms folded cause that tour wasn't all that. if u had taken him 2 a sign o the times tour, lovesexy, act 1, the show at the palladium, the ona tour and he stood there still folding his arms, then by all means he needed his ass whooped ..but musicology was BORING

No, U always have 2 have the FINAL SAY on all things Prince...
Whatever someone says, U say the opposite or try 2 top their story.

U didn't KNOW him. He was an ASSHOLE. He would have acted that way at ANY Prince concert--- If he wasn't the one who suggested or was into to it 1st, it wasn't good enough for him!
It spilled over into other aspects of life as well....
