In the song, "Family name," Prince discusses a library of generations and their history.

Why do you think that Prince does this?

Is the song about the Akashic records? I don't believe it is...It is very possibly about who the Akashic records is named after?

Another known alias....hmmmm. What's in a name? Is it just the outside layer of your skin which is also an ouside layer? Maybe Akasha see's things differently. Basia,,,says it right..."If only we could see through other people's eyes...we would understand eachother's hearts." The introspection...was not in searching for the electronic's and the technology to prove that everyone could be watched from the tower...It was to show us, that we don't need that kind of inspection...we can clearly see love, if it is there.

According to Wikipedia and a google.com search, the Akashic Records appears to be real. It is not an alter ego of Prince or alias. He was just getting deep in the meaning of The Rainbow Children.

well you've pretty much answered your own question with that
wikipedia entry. that's roughly correct as to detailing what
the akashic records are.

pretty much, imo, what prince is trying to say with this:

"we found this tape in the akashic records" followed by
thomas jefferson's lines

is that history is much more than what was recorded or what
was written down and how it was written down.

if you could pull files from the akashic records you would be
able to see people in very different ways from how they have
been remembered by historians of their time.
