Am I like one of the few people who keeps reading about this case and realize that it IS NOT Prince/Universal who brought this to court... but rather the Mother and EFF...???

Here is the the short version people....

1. Woman uploads video of baby dancing to Let's Go Crazy on You Tube.
2. Prince/Universal responds and has it taken down for copyright infringement.
3. Woman challenges the take down citing 'fair usage'.
4 Video goes back up and Universal does nothing more about the matter.
5. Woman has EFF sue Prince/Universal for monetary damages because they asked for it to be taken down in the first place.
6. Judge tosses case out of court

He ruled that the Electronic Frontier Foundation had not provided enough information to show it was self-evident that the clip was fair use, and that Universal also had not shown its free speech rights were violated.

7. EFF and woman submits second lawsuit.
8. We are now caught up in this crap and...

... PRINCE/UNIVERSAL DID NOT NOR ARE THEY CURRENTLY SUING THIS LADY AND HER DANCING BABY!

While he did ask for the video to be removed in the first place... after the woman challenged the decision citing fair usage and the video was put back up... Prince/universal left her alone. She and her lawyers, EFF, decided to try to make money from this situation and are the ones filing repeated lawsuits... not Prince.

(maybe if we say it enough times people will get it in their heads)

I'm so sick of hearing people bitch about prince sueing utube/ebay and whoever. has he actually sued anyone by the way... or just threatened and asked people to pull stuff down etc? Would love clarification on that.

So, in this case, it sounds like a situation that has been completely blown out of proportion.

Also, what about protecting his music makes him a dick... I think its great, and we should all feel a little crappy when we listen to boots and watch clips that we should have paid for (I do )

and.... MJ is following his lead (although there are somw ruly awsome mash-up clips floating around), so lets just acknowledge that the MJ/Prince feud is a little old

The woman may be but they are most definitely in it for the principle. As the TRUE fighters for consumer protection and a free internet they have been sueing all kinds of big ass multinational "slave" companies for years and have made many important accomplishments for all the crazy ass fans here defendeing this farce.

And I am sure they see Universal/Prince for what they are showing THEMSELVES to be: petty "copyright" tyrants who abuse their rights, even at the dispense of a mother posting a homevideo with her little kid, because they believe any kind of use of their work without their consent can and should be prohibited.

Oh, so Prince and Universal weren't "personally involved" on that? Sure they weren't but they gave websheriff a blank cheque to act that way in HIS NAME so it IS Prince and his "slave" holding record company who are bringing this over themselves.

I hope the judge looks at again and rules in her favour.
