Pop Life? Near the end the song collapses on itself in a strange passage of bumps and crashes, underlain with boos and catcalls followed by cheers. This was taped during Prince's 1981 disastrous opening slot for the Rolling Stones. What you hear in the sample is the crowd booing him off the stage. Then the crowd cheers as Prince leaves.
Is this right? I always wondered why there was that random hitch in the song. | |

Urban legend. It's from a sample library record. IIRC, the same one as the baby gurgle on the 1999 LP etc. | |

Is this right? I always wondered why there was that random hitch in the song. No it's not right. As NouveauDance said, it's lifted from a sound effects disc. The track is called 'Boxing Match' if I remember correctly. | |

Interesting...I have always loved the extra sound effects that are in quite a few things...
