Best rhythm guitarist

Who has been Prince's best and worst rhythm/back-up guitarist (excluding Prince ) in any of his bands? For me:

Best: Mike Scott (good sense of rhythm/timing and nice jazz flourishes)
Worst: Miko Weaver (his playing seemed flat with no feeling; he didn't groove well with the bass and drums)

Well, even though I was never a fan of Wendy's, she was a very good rhythm player.

RIIIGHT???

I would say the exact opposite, which I've said many times...

Mike Scott was mostly technical, and not 2 much soul behind the Funk.

Miko played Funk Guitar very similarly 2 Prince. His feel was right in the DAMN pocket, no doubt.

But overall, I'd rate my fav Prince guitarists like this:

1) Miko Weaver
2) Levi Seacer, Jr.
3) Dez Dickerson
4) Mike Scott
5) Kat Dyson
6) Wendy

By the way, I play guitar... mostly Funk.

BG, would you rate her rhythm playing above P's other rhythm guitarists? What gauge do people use in order to determine best and worst rhythm playing (technical skill/funky/timing, etc?)?

Miko and Jesse Johnson could've kicked Prince's ass, playing-wise nod Although, Jesse wasn't really a rhythm guitarist.

And speaking of Rhythm guitarists, I wonder what did theKid think of Mr.Roger Troutman hmmm

Hey. We agree on most stuff, but there's no way Miko or Jesse come close 2 Prince's playing, especially with Funk guitar.

U and I have both brought up Roger as a badass Funk guitar player... one of the tightest EVER. Prince respected Roger, most def.

Much love.

No, I'm not rating her higher than others but I think she did a good job on rhythm and considering when she stepped in, that was a hella crucial period for Prince. Obviously a lot riding on Prince and his band.

I think that Wendy Melvoin was the best OVERALL rhythm (and lead) guitarist.

Miko Weaver was second. He did it all-rhythm and leads--and I think that he was a lot closer in Prince's style.

I didn't like Kat Dyson's work but I can appreciate her musicianship. There wasn't any parts that stood out to me. So she would be the worst rhythm guitarist.
I may not like the man.
I may not like his music after the mid 90s.

I respect his current artistry...I just don't like him.

No hate.
