Have you ever misheard a prince lyric?

For a long time the lyric to fury where he says queen got no king I thought he was saying queen got no head which to me had two meaning either that the queen had had her head cut off or queen as in gay man couldnt get no head as in blowjob.

Yes there are many I can't think of right now, but here is one:

From "We Can Funk" -

"I'd gladly pee in anybody's cum"

Tell me that doesn't sound like what they're singing. Go listen. Right now! Am I right? You never hear them pronounce the "p" in the word "cup".

I used to think that in the Prince song, "Sex In The Summer", where he sings, "We can party all night long", he was actually singing, "Freak your body all night long". falloff Think I've been listening to waaaaay too much Prince music. lol

Just helping people see what's been said before.

But the thing is, maybe someone who hasn't been around as long as others thought of this as a topic NOT KNOWING it has been discussed before. It is fine that U (and others) point out former discussions, but there are people who didn't participate before and would like to NOW.

It often comes off as rude and dismissive when U guys do that. Maybe U don't mean it that way, but it does.

I'm just sayin'... innocent

Agreed, plus, if you click on the links (as I did), they are from 2007. One is even from 2002. People are likely to not see a thread that is over a year old, and will start a new one, not knowing that others like it are in existence. My twocents.

It took me months to convince my brother Prince was not a coke fiend, because he was CERTAIN that in "1999", Prince was singing, "I've got a line in my pocket, and baby I'm ready to roar".

I wasn't suggesting that it was a subject that shouldn't have been raised again, but as it has been raised before, it might be of interest for some to read what others have said before on the same subject.

Thank U for clearing that up. I've seen that before and thought rolleyes because it seemed like U were just "dissing" the poster.

I'll put this in big parentheses, because this is Rolling's thread:

(No problems. If I wanted to 'diss' a poster, I guess I'd come out and say it.

There will always be people new to this site, or who have been away for a while, who may not know what has and hasn't been posted before, and it can take some a time to work out how to check forums for recently-posted subjects.

There are also times when people post threads on subjects which have been discussed very recently, for example. My own view is that it's probably best on those occasions to let the mods know, so they can make their decisions.

However, if anyone wants to check on previous subjects from times gone by, a search on the site in Google - Advanced on a well-chosen word (e.g. 'misheard' in this case), can often help find previous similar threads.

But I do understand why it was suggested that the way I post sometimes can come across in different ways.)

Now - back to misheard lyrics (or 'mondegreens'):
