Now, from the lyrics of this classic, there is only one conclusion that can be drawn. Prince is splitting up with a woman clearly involved with another man/woman. The second verse clearly shows this. If he had a spiritual awakening from getting out of a love triangle is up for grabs.  | |

The song seems more about Prince's girlfriend not wanting to satisfy his needs, so he asking her to let him go because they probably are not compatible.
He can leave if he wants, but by saying turn me loose it gives her a chance to consider his offer and maybe change her mind. And the song while not a classic it is like its lyrics.....a tease. A seductive little ditty to get us interested, and talking, and the get ready for the next phase of what ever happens next. Prince has probably record enough music for 5 cds by now, so here is to hoping to 2009 for a new cd. | |
