Mr. Prince and the internet....just want it off my chest

I had a very rude awakening today. Basically, I can see why Prince isn't to happy about the internet these days.

I have been a member for a while, but just recently started to post on the Org. I guess that is a inkling on how "assured" I feel about the net.....anyway I really see how Prince feels. I remember yearrrs ago when I didnt even have an email address Prince was on BET with Chaka Khan telling everyone how they should get onboard.....I thought it was crazy the way he said how good a tool it was.....fast forward, I think he had a point then, and has a point now.....and even though I check out this website, I agree with Prince, then internet has alot of B_ _ _ _S _I_ on it! I guess this is just a personal rant..... But Prince, I agree with you.....I'm glad that you stand your ground no matter what! That's why I admire you.

I guess i shoud have been more specific.....I read in a thread that he says that the internet is lurking with evil and such.... it was more to it.....I guess if you read alot of these post here u would know what i ment..... its just somethhing that took place...got me a little shook up and i want to put it out there.....nothing earth shattering.

Prince is a smart guy.....alot of people (not all) say he talking out of both sides of his mouth on the internet subject ..... I just agree with him, even if it means that I'm not able to be in the 3121 fan club and stuff like that.....

I think this post has a lot of potential for an interesting discussion - if only vntalove would be a little more specific about what exactly he agrees on with Prince, and what Prince has said exactly about the Net lately.
He/she says he really sees what Prince feels about the Net - well, what does he/she see exactly?

If Prince said the Net has evil stuff on it - I personally think that the Net contains both high- and low-quality material, and it's really up to the individual to be selective.

On the other hand, I do admire Prince for not following the herd and embracing blindly all the hot trends of the moment. For that reason I find his exit from the Net extremely interesting and refreshing.

We are being told on all sides that we cannot survive in today's world without using the Internet. Well, his Net-free professional life in 2008 is a very interesting experiment to watch imo.

I guess, that when u have a lot of voices behind screens passing on a lot of useless negativity...It pollutes the world, since this is a tool that connects us all. Lover's of the world and those that want to take care of it, is what we need to spread...not the viruses of someone's polluted mind...God Bless Us...

Prince is trying to make sure that people are aware...Aware of this crucial concept.

I'm not sure what there is to agree with him on, since he never gave an official reason for disabling his website. He has given reasons for fighting Youtube and other similar sites, but that's entirely different. I think there's been a lot of speculation about his motives but, in typical Prince style, no real explanation, sadly.

it's a bit like this forum according 2 gen discussioners...it's a scary place. eek
the www is getting clogged up apparently..& will eventually grind 2 a halt.
luckily (unfortunately 4 prince) the grid should take care of that problem.
www & social dynamics tho..huge massive issue
i admire him 4 taking a stand cuz outta control, but perhaps he could use his energy 2 b more constructive instead of trying 2 prove a point - he's making life difficult 4 himself & not getting anywhere with it in the process.

The internet shows no side to human behaviour that did not exist before it's widespread use, it's just a lot easier to see the extremes, and the highs and lows.

If they pull the shutters down on the internet, which is very likely at some point, as control of access equals control of information and control of commerce, then we might be looking back to the more liberal times of freedom of speech and information and wonder what happened to them.

I have to agree with you, and they will continue to exist with or without the internet. Shutting down the internet tomorrow will not suddenly get rid of evil behavior/personalities or hate within society. Those behaviors/attitudes will still exist.
