I must say it definitely is much darker than what has now become the official "Purple Rain" movie. There was definitely more dark and grittier stuff happening there: Prince starting shit with The Time in their rehearsal space, Prince getting hardcore with Apples, the fellas from the Revolution acting a fool towards the ladies, the borderline incestuous relationship between the Kid and his mom, etc. I don't wanna give too much away, but there was a whole lot more happening than what made the final cut. I also heard that a lot of these were filmed. In fact, some of these parts can be seen in the original trailer.

You know what, the original script would've been like "8 Mile" way before "8 Mile"

I really, really, really, favor that old script over the finished movie. I think That PR kinda got edited and hacked to pieces. I mean, you can see half those scenes in the "When Doves Cry" montage. (Ohhhh, I hate that montage scene, it really shows the bad editing decisions. Those scenes should have been shown in full)

Not to mention the fact that MY GIRL was in the original script!

One day, I want a DVD with deleted scenes. But I doubt they were kept/kept in good condition because this was so much before DVD's and the studio wouldn't have a reason to keep them,

There was a thread on here a long time ago that posted some of the script that didn't list Apples in the script. So this was before Vanity had left. The sex scene where P basically was raping Vanity and then Vanity switched gears on P and she took over. Making P "lose it" way before he was ready. Then she got up, leaving P laying there and shit.

That is so hardcore.

I think thats a very good embellished version of the film, theres nothing that suggests its real.

Prince is referred to as prince throughout ad the bike and the train race bit is so corny and has nothing to do with the plot. Or the rape scene, it just doesnt make sense.

I would of love to see the x-rated parts, especially the "barn" scene and also where prince gets into a fist-fight w/ "jellybean" johnson, they only showed a clip of that on the original trailer. I also read in a interview where jellybean mentions that fight scene that in between takes Prince had actually really punch him in the face, but by accident and he was all apologetic and he also mentioned that 1 time Prince and Morris day were in a actual fist-fight, can u believe that? thats crazy

Just kidding. Honestly, everytime the original script is referenced to, the above link is what always provided. As for the soundtrack, some of the music was put together before filming begin; where as others, such as Take Me With U, were written at the suggestion of some of the films producers to tie-in with particular sequence (according to the 2nd disc of the 20th Anniversary release).

I just read it now (first time) I wish most of those scenes could have been kept in. I always wanted to see more conversation with Prince and his mother. I saw most of the scenes i read, like the barn scene, in the 'When doves cry video' and in the preview of purple rain the part with Prince pulling apollonia in the rehearsal studio.
