I forgot to put this song into my top 50 list of best Prince songs, but it really belongs there.
Great combination of traditional R&B and south-african jive music. Very good vocal delivery by Prince also! (reportedly recorded in one take on his mobile studio bus while he was touring in Japan). | |

I didn't care for this song when I first heard it but years later, I fell in love with Willing and Able. And the video is great! Diamonds and Pearls got extra points with me thanks to this song. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

"Willing and Able" is a good song...not a classic but certainly in the upper tier.
I like the falsetto and the guitar/sitar whatever the hell it is in the background. Rosie sounds good on it too ( I really miss Rosie sometimes). Just don't understand why Prince changed his mind on it as a single after he premiered the video on the Super Bowl. Then he went with MDM2N which is also a good song but the beginning of the end of the mo-mo for the Diamonds and Pearls project. I sometimes spend hours trying to figure out which Tony M. rap was more inappropriate; the one on this song or on Love 2 the 9s. All good things they say never last... | |

Love the song.
The video is OK. The outfit in the video is fierce. Only Prince could get away with that. That was, OMG, 17 years ago. Times seem so conservative now in comparison. Again, I think the percussion make this song great and some what eternal. 17 years later it still sounds fresh and new. [Edited 5/9/08 15:13pm] | |

Great song. When I think about it, this is actually one of the few D&P tracks that's got some longevity and doesn't sound dated or over-done. Tony M. is even tolerable. It's definitely the best rap he ever did on anything Prince related (haven't heard anything else, though), simply for the fact that he isn't YELLING IT. "Try to remember how you used to feel about me
