I was just listening to this song today and also thought the rap was tastefully done. It wasn't embarrassing and was actually complimentary to the song. The organ or accordian competing with the rap makes it sound almost like a Polka or Mexican style song at that point and it is wonderful!

And the song in general is pure genius. From the background harmonies, to the percussion, to the general arrangement of the song.

Let me reiterate - the background vocals are FANTASTIC.

The viseo version is fabulous. The band and the vocals are all on the money. Beautiful. Now, if only i had an MP3 of that performance.

It is available on DVD for your listening/viewing enjoyment.

What DVD, I want it.

I suppose live 4 love can be seen as a spiritual song confused ...its just prince telling people to live for love, "without love you dont live"...and also talking about flying aeroplanes and shooting people and stuff cool

it also has some great guitar solos guitar

I love it when Prince channels that soulful, earthy, scatty vibe. This song belongs in the same atmosphere as Strange Relationship-live version, When the Lights Go Down and Somebodys Somebody. Brilliant Steve Wonder influences!

"Willing and Able" is one of my favorite Prince songs...Even though, we get around to lists of 50 songs...It didn't show up.

I included it in my top 50. I figured it was the most under rated song on my list.

When THe Lights Go Down always reminds me of Sylvester's 'Cool of The Evening.'

I think it's a great rap.

I totally agree with u tame lol

You two must not be fans of rap.

I'm not a fan of rap anymore, but was still listening to rap in the early 90's. While this may be one of Tony M's most tolerable raps, it is still garbage. Totally ruins a good song.
